My “first” and only bus that I consider using when in Edinburgh. They are regular, often, clean, tidy with friendly drivers and a timetable and route plan that even I can understand.

Lothian buses are the main transport provider in Edinburgh with routes covering from as far east as Seton Sands and as far west as Edinburgh Airport.
There are buses for every route you could possibly think of with any journey costing £1.10 or just £2.50 to get a day saver which allows you to get on and off as many buses as you like all day.
Due to the introduction of bus lanes on the busier streets of Edinburgh, taking the bus is becomming the way to travel as it takes a lot less time than taking the car.
The bus drivers are mostly friendly and willing to help if you are unsure of what you are doing, also they have an excellent website and shops all over Edinburgh city centre where you can get information or pick up timetables.
Lothian Buses also run tours of Edinburgh, buses combined with boats to tour the Firth of Forth and other specialist services.
If you are looking for a longer period of time, bus passes can be a good idea, these can last a week, a month or a year and are great value for money allowing you to travel as much as you want over the specified time period.
