the town of Vence

Vence is another Medieval pearl and artistic nest in the heart of Southern France. Perhaps the first time the name of the place is mentioned in the world literature is in the Paradise part of The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri in the 13th century. Among the famous artists visited the town are Chagall, Matisse, Dufy. It was the death place of D.H.Lawrence who arrived there to try to cure from tuberculosis. Apart from the art image, the town is full of aromatic flowers, olives and colourful orange trees. The open market area bursts with fresh veg and fruit produce and the local hat, shoe and toy shops cannot remain unspotted.
