In search of my latest haircut I ended up in Soho and saw this magic sign,’£5 haircuts men and women’ That I thought is exactly right for me. It looked a regular barbers with clips of hair on the floor and a man with oily dark hair, beautiful brown eyes and a cigarette going to ash in his mouth hanging around. Clearly customers were not rushing in there. I took a deep breath. This I decided was the place for me. And in I went.
He looked at me.’ Cut it’ I said, He knew exactly the sort of customer I was. The five minute kind so he had this enormous scissors or was it a shears? And these nicotine stained fingers gripped those very big scissors in a sturdy grip and then he was so quick - never I think has such damage been done in such a short time
Trying not to look too closely in the mirror at the evidence of what I myself had asked for, I saw I had an audience of one small boy, who was deeply interested in the process and the result. He wasn’t exactly laughing out loud but being a mind reader I could clearly read his thoughts at this difficult time. (What a wicked haircut! that’s what he was thinking)
Well it’s always nice to provide some good free entertainment for a child. Hope he didn’t get eaten by a giant black female panther on his way home, they have started to come into the suburbs now and only yesterday I read of one prowling about the streets of New York all on its own and hungry.
My hairdresser then went to his counter and totted my extended fiver up under a long line of them.
So that was that and after all, where can you go nowadays to meet a man who isn’t perfumed and careful?
