Mr Humbug is a yummylicious haven of retro sweetie delights. Once you pass through the doorway of Mr Humbug, you have all ready reached the point of no return. You simply have to buy something, whether it is foam bananas', mojos, pink shrimps or sweet peanuts, it's a must. Baa humbug I say to some these new fangled modern sweets and hip hip hooray to Mr Humbug.

Sweets galore! If you can’t find it here you won’t find it anywhere! Beautifully decked out with every sweet you can think of on offer and in the very unlikely event that you can’t find something then the very helpful manager will track them down and get them in for you. All the sweets are sold on weight so you can get as few or as many as you like and they have some nice gift boxes on offer too. Mr Humbug’s arrival in Greenwich a couple of years ago was one of the best additions in a long time! Just don’t forget to brush your teeth afterwards!

FANTASTIC. This sweet shop is full of all the old goodies you used to buy as a kid. Mint Humbugs, Sherbert Lemons, Blackjack Bars - you name it they have it. Hidden away in the corner of Greenwich Indoor Market, you would know it was there unless someone pointed it out. Reasonable prices for good qaulity sweets that will take you back in time to your childhood. Oh, and you can even buy little glass pots to take lots of goodies home with you. Excellent.

This shop is absolutely stuffed with jars of sweets and interesting novelties. If you want the boiled sweets of your youth (standard or sugar-free), rainbow sherbert, popping candy or a chocolate posy, this is a good place to look! Try to go when the market isn’t too busy so that you can browse, and you’ll probably find all sorts of favourites you’d forgotten existed. (Not so much chance of that on a Saturday afternoon though, the queue is out of the door).
However, there were two disappointments for me. The first is the price - although the novely/rarity/nostalgia factor can justify it. The second is that loose sweets can only be bought in 100g multiples, no less. One of my fondest memories is of being able to mix a quarter half-and-half, but they won’t allow that here.
Nonetheless, well worth a visit if you’re craving those half-forgotten sweets…

It’s pretty well known that those on Qype are a big fan of Cyber Candy. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of the american goodies you can find in there, but it’s all a bit new fangled for my liking. I like my sweeties of the old school variety. Cola bottles. Pear drops. White chocolate mice.
Mr HUmbug has big sweet jars right up to the cieling! like in the old days at the newagents when I’d count all my coppers and ask for a 1/4 of pear drops. That’s what sweet buying should be about! It’s exciting to be able to do it again!
It is more expensive. You’ll be saying to your friends stuff like ‘but it only used to be 30p a 1/4’ and sounding a bit old. But there’s enough stuff here to find something you like. I have an addiction to jazzies. Y’know those little white chocolate discs with the candy coloured balls on them? I’ll actually eat them until I feel sick. I can buy them here. This makes me deliriously happy. Or maybe I’m just hyped up on sugar.
They make for good presents too. They’re a great way of saying ‘Sorry I was a bit of an idiot last week’. It’s cute and not an embarassingly large gesture.
So come here and eat sweets. Probably best enjoyed with a beer in the pub opposite. Which you weren’t allowed to do in the old days.
