Hi please come take a look at CC’s now, it has just reopened the top floor after it was totally re-vamped. The owners are in the process of doing the whole place up a bit at a time and trying to address the negative comments they receive please be patient.

Ok, it’s free to get in, but they should be PAYING people to step into this cesspit. Overpriced and full of clowns looking for sex – or people who, quite frankly, have no taste when it comes to the venues they frequent for a night out.
There is a funny stench too, a bit like a combination of sweat and bleach. Eugh. The decor has been the same for about 13 years (and probably longer?). Tacky mirrors on the walls and checkered floors just like the film – The Shining. And then there are the creepy straight couples looking to pick up any lesbian who is remotely attractive – which is few and far between in CCs. Interms of Gay Clubbing in Edinburgh, CC’s is a total embarrassment.

From the ages of 18-28 i had many experiences of CC’S and none of them were particularly pleasant. But that’s just my opinion. I’m not sure if giving CCs fresh lick of paint would change much, there would have to be a marketing strategy to convince people that it really has changed.
I have the same view of Planet and Habbana – and GHQ isnt’ much better. The Edinburgh Gay Scene is awful. It’s not reflective of a cosmopoltian City at all.
This is a site for reviewing our experiences, and i did just that . Even if i haven’t been in for a while my experience is still valid – as is yours. That said, i would welcome the transformation of CC’s into an establishment worth venturing to. -

its had more than a lick of paint, check out facebook. its also given the edinburgh scene a well needed kick up the arse. its now a place to go to, instead of somewhere to end up! i recommend you try it out! they’re even open throughout the day too, serving coffees cakes caocktails etc, so its not just a nightclub now. defo a massive step up that what is was previous.
Hi All. I went to CC’s last night. 18/3/12. As other users say, it has become a place where drunks who can not get in anywhere else, now go. I am a gay guy who has lived in Edinburgh for the past 7 years and has seen the place slowly go down hill. Last night I was on my own with friends having left for the evening. I went to the loo with drink in hand. as I’m stood there at the latreen a woman walks in and shouts “oi you, drink, out now”. I walked up to the woman and said please don’t talk to me like that. she promptly got on her walkie talkie and asked the bouncer to remove me. I am the most mild mannered of guys and only weigh about 10 stone. I’ve never been thrown out of anywhere before and so found this both deeply offensive and typical of the heavy handed and disrespectful approach that the management and door staff now take. This is what can happen in a city that is about 20 years behind the rest of the UK on gay rights and equality. My advice to anyone is to avoid this place at all costs. Not just for the experience that I’ve had, but for the similar experience that other friends of mine have had. I think its time, as a community, the gay people of Edinburgh started to have a say in how such venues are run and bring hope and equality back to the capital city of Scotland.

The bouncers in CC’s are awful. They throw people out at the drop of a hat and there is no reasoning with them. Utter disgrace for a Gay Club. I haven’t been in about 3 years and i don’t intend on going back.

if u havent been in three years how can you possibley comment how the club is! a hell of a lot has chaged in 3 years – the door company especially!
And, on friday 8th june 2012 it re-opened after a massive refurbishment! I suggest visiting before posting more out dated comments.

Umm, yeah…Wearing a tracksuit to a club isnt really acceptable unless it’s a sports club or Liverpool.
Horrible place with rude guys at the door...
I was dancing with my friend and they invited me to leave the place because I was "drunk".... lol I was just dancing and the idiot took me from my arm and took me outside... What is that attitude?

This is the kind of place to be seen if you are a nobody. I have lived in Edinburgh most of my life and am always glad to visit gay bars anywhere but here. Edinburgh has had a long history of pretentious gays, and CC blooms seems to attract most of them. Its a dirty, smelly, filthy hole, but if you are a nobody you have to be seen there. Berlin Bars could teach the gay bar scene a lot. The Pink Pound should be renamed the rip you off pound ,well thats what its all about in Edinburgh. C C Blooms owner/s must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Hi come to Edinburgh 20 ,11,10. i come from Newcastle for a nite out was told Edinburgh was a lovely city. My mates and i went for a meal in Leith we had 2 glasses of red wine with the meal. We then come up town to a bar called Treacle were i had double vodka and mixer we then went to CC Blooms when the gentleman on the door stopped my mate and said he was the worse for wear with the drink told us to call back in half an hour what good this would do is beyond me. 2 glasses of wine and a vodka and coke and you get turned away. My mate went back to the hotel then i come back to CC Blooms where the doorman said sorry and asked were my friend was i said hes in the hotel he then said phone him he can come in now.
What a plonker this doorman is.
When i went in to CCS the place stunk was scruffy and the price of drinks are over the top £12 for 2 vodkas and coke i feel sorry for gay people in edinburgh putting up with this crap. Newcastle is by far better gay scene and a lot cheaper so be warned if you go to CCs and come from a distance you mite get turned away, we are all in our 40s and not silly young daft lads.
I put this on CC Blooms facebook page and they took it off in 6 mins then i put it on there reviews they then took that off aswell.
they dont take reviews now on there facebook page.
They are a complete joke.
MY ADVICE IS DONT GO.

I love CC's I've ended up here on many a night out and always had a great time. Yeah it isn't the coolest place to go and its not the chicest but there's a great vibe here and everyone's just out to have a good time.
Its a gay bar but theres just as many straight couples there now as gay couples which is cool cause it just proves how laid back it is in here and how friendly it is. Having said that theres always a good looking metrosexual boy dancing on the stage with his shirt off and nipples covered in glitter.
Bar staff friendly, great dj's who actually play requests! (shock horror) everyone dances with everyone, brilliant atmosphere, they sometimes have live singers - Laura White was there the last time I was there. The only downside is that I've heard the toilets are a bit rank but just hold on and have a dance.
Guaranteed fun night out.

I have to be honest, I’m not really not a fan of this bar.
It’s crowded, stinks of a mixture of fags, sweat and alcohol and tends to attract the most outrageous and sometimes perverted clientele.
However, the prices aren’t particularly anymore expensive than anywhere else. If you like bright, neon-like colours that are most likely hazardous to your health - then maybe this is your idea of a night out on the scene.
Certainly “outrageous” but that doesn’t necessarily con notate with “good” or worthwhile.”

This place is pretty dire. Generally overcrowded, you usually have to queue to get down stairs. The drinks are overpriced. Most of the staff have an attitude problem. There’s not a great deal of room, it’s usually too hot. It’s full of far too many exhibitionists doing things that one should not be doing in the middle of a dancefloor. If I wanted to see that I would have either stayed home and rented some porn or booked a flight to Amsterdam. Steer clear, there are so many better places to go.

Hey, I’ve heard CC’s is great for a trashy night, where else can a 21 year old gay aussie have a good night in Edinburgh?

Oh lord. Tragic is definitely one way of describing CCs. This is the sort of place you only drag yourself into when you are VERY drunk/other establishments are on fire. Good for a laugh, in that you can stand and laugh at all the elderly gay gentlement cruising for toy boys. And at the drinks prices, which are normally ridiculous. Like the plague, it is best to avoid this one.

As a gay turist in edingburg for the first I visited CC Blooms and was suprised that a so lovley town whith such a lot a nice gaybars a place like cc blooms can exist.
the place was run down, the staf was rude and unfriendly.
and the door man was almoust agressive!!!
It felt like nobody from had a profesional attetude about the work they in the place!
Not even the dj could impress me, bad 80ies hits badley mixed together.
And beware of the toilets…. not a fresh and clean place, smels like urine!!!
The place was moustly visited by verry drunk lesbians, that was screeming to eachother and had a hard time walking straight, so hold on to your drink… or you will have all over your shirt!!!
NOT a place I will recommended you to go to if you visit edingburg.

ok its true the times i’ve been here have usually been preceeded by a few drinks….but i must say the mirrors everywhere put me in a bad mood….not because i looked a state but because it lends a rather alice in wonderland weirdness to an already strange arrangment of space. more than once i almost walked into a wall, a couple of times i waved at friends on the other dancefloor, when they were in fact behind me(!) and the cloakroom was full so several of our party had to haul our coats, scarves, and bags around with us. maybe if you get there early, don’t have much to drink and leave before it gets too crowded its a better experience….but i doubt it…

If you have a basis for your accusations of ‘sexist and jugemettal’, we would be happy to investigate this.
As with any licensed premises, staff have the right to refused service. Over consumption is particularly high on the agenda of the Police and the Government when it comes to licensing laws and massive fines and criminal charges can be brought against individuals and companies for allowing this to happen.
I am sure the bar staff were being cautious in this respect and ultimately looking after your health.
