Fraudsters. I ’d canceled the service on the first night & still ended up being charged.
Lovefilm took money from my account unauthorized. They have been “investigating” the unauthorized transaction for a week now and this is the final letter that they send to my fiance (along with so many others, I cannot paste them):
Dear Stanford,
Thank you for your email, and apologies for any confusion caused.
I have chased this up for you, and it would appear that your query is
still being investigated. While the payment trace will allow us to find
the account responsible for the unauthorised payment, it’s unlikely that
the account will be in your name. As such, the Data Protection Laws in
place mean that we can place the account on hold to prevent further
payments, but we will not be able to take any other actions, such as
refunding the payment.
Please contact the fraud department of your bank as soon as possible to
request a refund of the payment. As the merchant party, we cannot
investigate instances of fraud, which is why your bank will have their
own internal process to follow with regards to reclaiming any lost
funds.
It may also be beneficial to report the theft to the police as your bank
may need a crime reference number for their investigations.
I hope that this is helpful and if we can be of any further assistance
please do not hesitate to contact us.
Please let us know if this answered your question.

I signed upto love Film for a few months ago as they were offering a months free trial. The site was easy to use I just put in my wish list of dvds that I wanted to rent then they went through the list and sent them. When you have watched the film you send the dvd back in the freepost envelope provided. I found there was a good selection of dvds to choose from. I put some of the new top titles on the top of the list and I found they missed these and went to the ones lower down the list. The delivery did seem to be fast though they probably didn’t have the top titles in stock but after that I chose to sign up to Blockbusters instead as I got what was on the top of the list.

They always seem to give me free vouchers! Always on time with their deliveries, and they have lots of films to choose from. Can’t complain. I’ve given a moth’s subscription to a friend for their birthday. They always answer my queries as well, which makes you feel valued.

We had a free trial with Lovefilm and initially found them to be ok. After a few weeks, they started to get slower and slower at sending new films out and would never send any from the top of the list instead sending from the bottom. After a week, where they sent nothing, we cancelled the membership but that was a nightmare in itself. You have to go through to call centre in India to cancel, you are put on hold for ages and then speak to someone who speaks broken English and does not answer your question. I was fuming when despite cancelling, they still continued to charge me. We will never use them again!

Hi, check out http://tinyurl.com/yjnz7md for their current offers!
Beware the free trials and pay particular attention to the small print (it may say 5 free rentals but there is also a time limit in there somewhere). You need to be very aware and organised to cancel in time (as one reviewer below indicated). I would never use this service again.

I love it!
(reference to their rating system, where you rate films you’ve seen, whether it’s been rented from them or not)
I’ve been with lovefilm for about 4 years, originally through a 30 day free introductory subscription. Throughout all of that time, the service has been consistently good. I’ve been on several different tariffs over the years, originally on their 4 at a time unlimited, whereby you can pretty much watch films every night of the week if you so choose.
They’ve got a good range of tariffs, from those who share their account with others in the house, thus needing an almost constant supply of DVDs, Blu-Rays and Games, to those who watch the odd film. I’ve found that no matter what package you choose, it’s hard not to get very good value for money from lovefilm. They also let you pay up for a few months at a time, with a discounted rate.
One of the best reasons for joining is the pain in the ** that ever increasing DVD/Blu Ray/Game collections can be, causing clutter around the house with many titles sitting in the collection for months or years before they finally get watched. If you rent from lovefilm, there is no clutter (pretty much).
After adding a load of titles to your rental list, they send them roughly in the order you direct them to, using the priority system (high/medium/low). Depending on the royal mail, you’ll get a disc within a day or 2 of them emailing you to say it’s been despatched. Then, again depending on the royal mail, they’ll receive it within a day or 2 of you returning a disc, and will normally send the next one the same day as receiving a disc.
I fully recommend at least trying out lovefilm. It’ll change your life for the better :o)

I was one of the orginal amazon film customers before they moved over to love film and so now i’m automatically with them. I can’t tell the difference, both are great. I was (and probably still would be!) one of those people that nipped along to blockbusters to borrow a film, never quite got time to watch it, and kept forgetting to take it back and end up with a huge fine (i am too embarassed to say how much my biggest fine was!). So a scheme like love film is a god send for me. I pay just £5 odd a month and get up to 3 films. And no over due payments to make, if you dont get to watch the one they send you, then you just keep it until you decide to send it back and then you get the next one.
I like the idea of putting a list together and then love film work their way down your list (in kind of order) so you dont have to keep thinking - what do i want next.
The only small downside, which is just part of internet shopping, is that it really is nicer to browse in a real shop before choosing!

Online movie selection, and they send you DVDs by post. Sweet. You pay different rates depending on how many DVDs you want to be able to have. They put them through your mail slot, you watch them, post them back in the pre-paid envelope, and a new one comes.
The selection is huge. You can prioritise how you get them. The posting is quick, and if you watch movies right away you can easily get a lot more for your money than at a rental shop - and without leaving home. Select multi-disc sets and they’ll automatically send them in order.
I’ve been a customer for years, and find them great.

I’ve had a few memberships with lovefilm, usually on a free trial. You have to be quite organised in order to cancel a subscription before your next billing date. The best way to do this is to empty your “to rent list” and send back existing disks you have at least five days before the subscription renews, then once the disks have been recieved, you can cancel using the normal account pages, without ricking another months membership. However both myself and a couple of friends did not manage to get the free cinema tickets that were supposed to be part of the trial so read the small print of any offers!

This online DVD rental site is really good. If you tend to rent a dvd from blockbusters most weekends then this might be a good solution for you. YOu pay a monthly fee and you can borrow as many DVD’s as you like. You just have to create your list online and they will send you the DVD one by one in the order of your list. When you finish the DVD, you post it back in its pre-paid envelope and then they send you another. So you can watch as fast as you can or take your time. They have a lot of new titles and old one too.
