Grassroots Cafe, Glasgow

This cafe is absolutely wonderful. I am a meat eater myself but there was so much on the menu that was more than appealing nonetheless. What imaginative and delicious food. I cant wait for my next visit to Glasgow

Grassroots is specialist cafe which caters for vegetarians/vegans.
The beauty of it is though, even confirmed meat eaters such as myself can go there and enjoy the food!
Grassroots was the place of choice for my vegan friends birthday lunch and although I attended with much trepidation, I had to admit to thoroughly enjoying my meal!
All of the food served to us was well prepared and presented and was exceptionally tasty.

The best vegetarian food I have ever had. Love the burger of the day which comes with the best chips ever! The soup is also really really tasty. Oh and the currys, now I really want to go eat there again!! Nice low key place to go for a meal.

Excellent place to eat and not only for vegetarians and vegans. Delicious meals and a lot of variety and choice. Gorgeous desserts too and lovely soya milk coffees. Friendly staff. We’ve eaten here a few times now and look forward to doing so again before long! UPDATE OCT 2008: Maybe they were having a bad day (though it wasn’t even busy) but definitely not up to their usual standard. The veggie burger was terribly dry and didn’t have enough dressing and the coconut curry wasn’t as good as last time - and the portion could have been larger for the price - I think the meals have become far too expensive. They are presented well with attention to appearance, and the staff are always friendly, but we were disappointed with our choices this time. In fact, we’re inclined to try somewhere else instead - there are several very good vegetarian restaurants and cafes in Glasgow after all.

A trip to Grassroots Cafe always makes you feel like you are being healthy, even if you have opted for the burger, chips, organice beer and wedge of homemade cake. That’s because the food here is all vegetarian and delicious. It’s the type of food that could make even the most die hard carnivore forget what they ever saw in meat. Snacks and full meals are available, all are healthy and wholesome. I thoroughly recommend the mezze platter. Soups, specials and homemade cakes are available every day and with an adjoining shop, you can attempt to recreate your meal at home!
