This isn’t a restaurant. I have no doubt that there are decent experiences but mine was awful. This is a gamble with your children. I dare you. Visit, use them and decide for yourselves!!! Be careful, inquisitive and thorough though.

I cannot believe some of the negative reviews I am reading on here, but being a restaurant manager I get it – ‘you only hear when things go wrong’? Nearly anyone who has worked with in retail, catering, services etc will tell you that…
I think its only right that you hear when things are great also, so here you go!
I have rented from CityRed for years now, first as a student, and then, having been so impressed with them as a professional. In that time, on every occasion I have been required to contact their office (minor repairs, contract stuff etc) I have been so impressed. All repairs have been carried out straight away by friendly, proffesional staff. Communication has been excellent, I was always informed when tradesmen or an inspection were due, and the staff bent over backwards to help in any way they could.
What makes CityRed so good? The answer is simple. You get a professionalism equal to the very best top end agents out there, but with a warm, personal and approachable character. I have to say that both Andy and Lisa have been excellent throughout, nothing has seemed too much trouble, and they always dealt with everything with a smile on their face (they could have been gritting their teeth).
I would recommend this company to absolutely anyone.

davidbrent, 29 April 2012:
Poor. No disgraceful. On the one hand they were all very charming. They showed us some properties, one immediately and we signed contracts on an agreeable property on the Wednesday to move in on the Saturday. The wordy David Brent type manager (if you can’t spot him yourself I am prepared to be called wrong!!) offered several assurances and said he personally would introduce us to the flat mates; breaking off a golf game to helpn the Saturday afternoon, I was suspicious though and specifically asked him if I could rely on him. They did not want a deposit, nor the administration fee of £120.
With that suspicion I phoned on Thursday to check on things and they said the property had gone to someone else. The contract was worthless, because I am informed that it isn’t a contract, something I have left with others who know better than I.
David Brent is unavailable now, excepting a muffled undiscernable voice disguised by wind and traffic. I can’t get him on his mobile properly or at the office where the polite young assistants are fronting the phones. Watch out for the Wembley ticket story con whereby he regails his plight at getting ripped off and the “that’s something I couldn’t do…” trick. It’s a let down when your contract? signed by the agent is worthless and your Son has knowhere to live come Saturday. Oh and I have handed over my passport and driving licence details and all.
Actually they did offer us a flat in another area of Leeds that was impractical and untenable and anyway I wondered, a) whether this very shoddy flat was difficult to get rid of and here was their perfect victim, and, b) whether my new found status of ‘mug’ should be confounded by signing more paperwork, investing more trust and worrying about a potentially homeless Son over the weekend. Right now we are back in Leeds trying to find a property with a reputable agent. More money; we are staying over, more worry.
If you value your childs security, you prefer low blood pressure and need to trust your letting agent go anywhere else, I feel such a mug.
Shelter have a useful help line in this situation as does the citizen’s advice but quite honestly leave well alone.

By far the most useless bunch of buffoons I have ever met.
We moved into a house that was filthy, mouldy and flea ridden. It hadn’t been inspected or cleaned although they told us it had. We spent several month trying to get them to do anything. We moved in in July and the fleas weren’t dealt with until October. The gutter leaked causing damp and mould. The toilet leaked. It was a complete shambles. It took them months to do anything about it and even when they did they didn’t care if we were happy or not. A group of lobotomised monkeys could do a better job than the employees there. We signed a termination of contract in December. Do not let with them ever!!
As long as they’re getting paid they dont care about their tennents. Oh and just encase you’ve been told by them that they’re unipol accredited THEY’RE NOT! They lied to us about that, they are at best unipol code supporters.

As first-time renters, my partner and I thought that Cityred, located as it is on campus at Leeds Uni would be a good letting agent to use, with their ample student accommodation, and pledge of customer service on their website. Well, someone needs to tell them to treat the customer like he or she is always right.
After living in my property for just four months, I received a notice to quit from Cityred. When we signed the contract, they changed from a 12 month to a 6 month contract at the last minute, telling me it was a ‘formality’ and we would be able to renew our contract after six months with no problems. Now they insist that we were informed of potential building plans our landlord had, despite me having a number of documents with a 12 month contract implied. Our contract ends on the 31st of December, a date I never, ever would have agreed to move on.
They have been disrespectful, and at times downright rude. I have been called the wrong name in a number of emails (despite my name being in my email address) and had my emails ignored. They lied about our property before we rented it, and it took a long process of emails and finally a meeting with a manager to get anything done. We reported a problem with the alarm system the day we moved in, and then every couple of weeks for four months. Finally, after about four and a half months, they replied, saying that the landlord doesn’t want to pay for the repair as our tenancy will end in two months. When I asked for compensation, they responded with poorly written emails and now are choosing to just ignore me.
After moving our furniture out, the landlord started ripping our flat apart before we’d handed our keys in (when we technically still lived there), and after a long, very unprofessional dispute, ending in us threatening to take them to the small claims court, we got our deposit back, plus a small amount of money (less than the rent that was owed to us).
A number of maintenance people seem to have keys to our flat, and in one instance no-one from Cityred could identify one of the men who came in, so are unidentified people walking around with a key to our flat. Another time they couldn’t find the key to our flat and had to ensure one of us was in for maintenance. (The only time they’ve called before arriving, despite me continuously asking for warning)
I work in customer service, and if I treated customers like they have treated me, I would lose my job. I wish they had any pride in their work, and could appreciate that they are responsible for people’s homes.
The only good comment I can make about cityred is that if you have a simple maintenance request (eg. The rubber lining in the oven has broken) they respond quickly (but without warning). If you can manage to make an appointment to speak to someone face to face, then they are polite and helpful.
I would actively dissuade anyone from choosing Cityred; there are a lot of properties available in Leeds, use Cityred as a very last resort. If you are going to rent from them, act like you are an idiot child and get everything explained to you in simple terms, and in writing, and signed by a member of staff. Question everything and make sure you, and they, understand what is expected. I hope other letting agents aren’t as unprofessional as this one.

My boyfriend and I recently needed to relocate to Leeds for work reasons and had a really tight time schedule for finding a house a getting moved in. The Cityred team were incredibly helpful and found us the kind of property we wanted right away. Other agents had tried to take us to places in the wrong area etc. in order to let their properties, but the guys at Cityred actually listened to what we wanted! There was a couple of minor maintenance issues when we viewed the flat, but by the time we moved in 3 days later they had fixed them all and the flat was immaculate and ready for us.

Cityred are an absolute joke. They lost our first payment as they gave us the wrong bank details back in April for the first rent due in July. I spent a whole day on a paperchase with my bank, trying to find the lost payment which had gone out of my account on the due date. Cityred are still trying to find this money. The landlord has it!! This was the account they had given us!! Today they are trying to accuse us of not paying Dec. rent! It left my account on 23 Nov but as it doesn’t appear on their paperwork, they just send out a threatening text without even an enquiry to me!! They assume that the tenant is in the wrong before checking and never apologise. They are totally useless. Beware everyone who deals with them. Keep records in triplicate as you will need them!

City Red had a really nice selection of houses. We did quite a bit of viewings with a number of agents in Hyde Park and some of the houses they showed us were terrible. We were impressed with the houses we saw with City Red in that they were all furnished nicely and well maintained. Now that we’ve actually been living in a City Red house for about 4 months I definayely rate them as one of the best agents in Leeds mainly beacuse the staff are very nice and responsive and we generaly hardly have any maintenance. I would definately consider resigning for the house we’re in now.

I have just moved out of the property that I have rented from Cityred for 2.5 years, and I have nothing but praise for them. I have rented from a few different agencies in Leeds and Cityred are by the far the best in terms of maintenance. I did have a few problems in my flat, but the guys at Cityred always sent their maintenance team out quickly, and everything was fixed there and then, if possible. I also got my full deposit back after only 1 week of waiting. I previously have done and will continue to recommend Cityred as a letting agent to anyone who is looking to rent in Leeds.

City red are by far the worst company...never mind letting agency that I have ever dealt with.
The list of problems with the house is endless....mould in the rooms (even though we had an inspection when we first moved in and were told it would be sorted, but we are just about to move out and no sign of anything being done), shower doesn't work, door too big for the door frame, furniture falling apart, front door so rotten that in the middle of winter it let the cold air in through the gaps making the house freezing - the door has now been replaced but has left a big whole in the wall and mess surrounding it, heating has broken numerous times and has taken weeks for it to be fixed, radiator in basement room doesn't work, hob doesn't work, light with wires hanging out of it, the radiators are still on even when the boiler is off, the toilet leaks and the whole house was generally disgusting when we moved in!
All these problems have been reported numerous times to city red and it is only the door that has really been fixed and that involved me and my housemates going into the office on a daily basis for several weeks!
The staff are also very rude and extremely unhelpful.
I am very glad to be moving out of this house and having nothing further to do with this company.

Today Cityred promised to repair our boiler, and indeed today it was repaired. It is so rare to be with an agent that fullfills their promises. We started renting from Cityred in July 2010, and yes there has been quite a few maintennace issues, but they have always dealt with them. Now from what i hear from other students, that is rare. I have no problem recommending these guys.

Honestly, this letting agent is quite good. I've been renting in Leeds for a few years now and this was the first time I use Cityred, I can not fault them. I felt obliged to write this as I read one of the bad reviews, and must say that it is not representative of the experience I;ve had with them. Renting from them has not been trouble free, but these guys are attentive and get things sorted. Most of the other agents I've been in with in Leeds are far worst in nearly every way!

I found them very helpful throughout the whole year i had lived with them. It took me just over a month to get my deposit back, but i got the full amount so it was worth the wait.
The city centre apartment that i had was beautiful. They took good care of me and any problems that i had. the staff were down to earth and trustworthy and all in all i had a good experience.
I would have rented again off them if i hadn't have found a job outside of Leeds.
I have rented off many agencies prior to this and can now safely say that city red are one of the OK ones!

I absolutely cannot recommend this estate agent. I am a tenant and they are by far the worst estate agent I have ever dealt with.
They send text messages, immediately before disconnecting their phones, to say your home will be viewed the next day. Even when you have phoned them a thousand times and asked that they CALL you in advance of a viewing... and that they CALL you just before arriving for a viewing - they never will. Even if they say that they have "made a note to call you" they never will. And even if you ask them to remove you from their text message list, they never will.
And god help you if you need repairs. I had to wait weeks - and in the end the plumber never came back to finalise the job! The leak was is fixed - but if I was the owner I'd be quite annoyed that the plumber didn't come back to stick my bathroom back together properly!
You have been warned!
