This pub looks more gastro than it turns out to be. Sure some of the tables upstairs are pre-set for 'gourmands', but there is no deterrent to turning up for a few beers.
And the beer selection is an interesting one. Combine that with a CAMRA reduction and you can see why it was a recent award winner! The bar staff care what they are doing too, which is an underrated bonus, as it is rare.
Very nice looking place. It is a former dispensary (built in 1858) that closed down during the Second World War.

I am very impressed by their food: it's freshly made, tasty, reasonably priced and a bit sophisticated too (but not too much). Definitely off the beaten track, it is worth to take a little stroll from Spitalfields.
