I remember this location when it was a bank, and it was curious to see the bar underneath the skylight, where the main cashiers used to be. So the setting is rather stylish, and not a little noisy, although the ambience is quite nice with soft lights and lots of intimate couples chatting away. However, I was not spectacularly impressed by the dinner I had, nor by the service which was rather haphazard. The dishes I had seemed rather formulaic and contrived and did not wow me as much as I had expected. The salmon could have be done by any cook and the poulet was a little stringy. But maybe it was just that evening and I really feel that the place can do much better, so I will try this place again later in autumn.

1 Lombard Street comprises a restaurant, bar and brasserie in a Grade II listed converted banking hall.
The restaurant is Michelin-starred and very formal. As you would expect, the food and service are excellent and the fact that it’s a favourite for many trying to impress clients means the atmosphere is quite corporate.
The brasserie is more laid-back, with dishes you’ll find affordable when you’re not claiming the cost of the meal on expenses.
The bar is a lovely place to have an after-work drink with a few tapas dishes. It’s a City crowd so if bankers aren’t your cup of tea then steer clear.
