This restaurant has amazing views: it might look like a rather dull box, but that’s because it’s all windows and terraces, meaning every table overlooks the sea. You may have to queue for a table, but once you’re seated above the bright lights of the seafront and the mile-and-a-third-long pier, it will seem worthwhile.
Service is really friendly: I ate here on my own, which sometimes brings out the worst in restaurants. No such problems here, I got a good table and was treated really well all evening.
The menu is extensive, and unsurprisingly emphasises seafood. Main course fish comes with a good choice of accompaniments, from seaside favourites like chips and onion rings to lighter, healthier alternatives. (Alright, I went for the chips…) My only criticism is that the fish, and my starter of mussels, were cooked a little more than I like - but not unpleasantly so. The mussels came with plenty of bread and hand wipes, the main course was generous and the mackerel really good.
Prices are reasonable, making this restaurant a good choice for a more sophisticated take on seafront fish suppers.

Located at the top of the seafront cliffs, this is a fantastic little restaurant. It does get very busy and I’ve known the queue for a table to stretch halfway down the huge flight of stairs to the restaurant’s entrance, so booking is advisable.
The restaurant is nothing special, and you would be forgiven for thinking that it is nothing more than a typical seaside fish and chip bar. There is a small indoor dining area and a wrap-around outdoor patio with plastic tables & chairs with heaters
The menu will surprise you though. They have all the favourites like cod, scampi and plaice with chips, but also offer turbot, sea bass, dover sole, halibut and lobster. The latter was a little well grilled for my liking on my last visit but this was an aberration rather than the norm.
Another way they set themselves apart from your average chippie is that they are licensed so you can enjoy a little glass of something with your cod and chips.
