Built in 1796, it’s only open during Heritage Open Week in September.

The building had been used in 1832 to house cholera victims. Later, by destitute Irish escaping the potato famine.

20 years later, it had become derelict and then, the owners, the Wavertree Board of Health, considered demolition.

Fortunatly, was saved when the board’s chariman, James Picton, drew up plans for it’s restoration.
