Rouken Glen used to be a most magnificent park with a pristine and colourful walled garden and a large beautifully clear boating pond.
Sadly the park has gone very much downhill over the last few years.
The walled garden is now mainly covered in weeds and large empty unkempt patches of earth. The pond is riddled with algae which is so unsitely and is rarely ever cleaned.
The park is also not a safe place for people walking alone. My good friend was attacked by a yob last year in broad daylight, and there have been other similar incidents. The park needs a significant increase in manned surveillance by poilce and park attendants.
Good park for young kids. The play park is a great size, albeit the slides etc are showing their age!

Rouken Glen park is very special to me. I have very early memories of sitting in a horse and cart carriage and taken a ride from the main entrance gates up to the boating pond. I spent many happy days there with my family. I still enjoy visiting the park to this day, especially with my son and i hope he will enjoy the scenery , trees and wooded walks as i have over the years. One day I hope he cherishes these times as much as i do now

Rouken Glen is worth visiting but it used to be a lot better. The boating pond has been contaminated with foul smelling green algae. I was quite embarrassed when I took a visitor there and had to keep apologising for it. Also the walled garden is a mere shadow of its past glory. The shrubs and perennials by the walls are fighting a losing battle with weeds and the main beds are taken up by an uninspiring show of seasonal annuals. Some beds are just left empty! If South Lanarkshire can maintain a lovely park such as Calderglen Country Park, why cannot a rich authority Like East Renfrewshire do a better job with Rouken Glen? I have been visiting Rouken Glen for 60 years and can assure you that it used to be infinitely better.

Nice park. Has boating pond, nice waterfall and some great routes. Much prefer Pollok Park though.

This is one of the best parks in and around Glasgow it has a lot of grass areas and some nice walks including the walled garden and some walks under the trees. I like to go here in the Autumn the colours are lovely and it is usually quite quiet. In the summer it gets really busy but it is full of family’s with the children enjoying the play park or the wee fair ride. The parent’s enjoying an ice cream from the van. There is also a good size boating pond where you can hire a boat. A good fun activity for the family to do together.
Additionally there is a garden centre stocking a range of gifts as well as plants, gardening tools etc. The cafe is good too and nice to enjoy a hot coffee after my autumn walks.
It really is a lovely place but the parking can be a problem as it is a popular place.

This is a lovely park with a beautiful waterfall, as well as a playground for the kids and a great big pond. It has a cople of ice cream shops and a very good garden centre near the main entrance, as well as a chinese restaurant which I have been told is very good.

Rouken Glen Park is a great place to visit. There is loads to do go to the playgound or have a go on the boats in the boat pond or simply wonder around the nature trails. On a rare occasion you can find a spot to sunbathe if its stopped raining! Or head into the garden centre for a bit of shopping or a bite to eat in the cafe

A great picnic place to spend the day in. The park is huge with a pond witch has boats and ducks. The children’s play area is well provided and safe with large areas of grassy areas to play football in!
There are two cafes which provide delicious cakes, cold and hot drinks.
The park is clean and tidy and in the summer months very very busy.
There is also a well stocked garden centre located in the park.
One of the most interesting parts of Rouken glen is the Walled Garden. I recommend a walk through this area in the summertime or on a crisp winter morning. The Walled Garden was originally a veg garden but after World War 1 it was converted into a flower garden and then at the onset of World War 2 reconverted back to a vegetable garden!! In the summer months this garden is spectacular.
In the winter, if your luck enough, the pond will freeze, not enough to skate on but the resulting snow and ice make the place the ideal area for a snowball fight. The local families of the area all desend on Rouken Glen all wrapped up against the cold! Believe it or not its even better in the winter time!

It is brilliant place to have a lazy stroll, and to admire the views, and the lovely trees. I do love walking in there in all seasons, even in the rain, or in the winter, as I love looking at the colour of the leaves on the trees. Even in the summer, the trees are glistening, with beauty, and the ponds are filled with ducks, swan. my niece do loves going there, to fee Tardis d them with bread…
Even they have a wee Cafe/restaurant overlooking the pond, cannot remember what it was called, I went indoors, and was surprised to see the siz, as it actually looks much bigger than compared what it looked outside - must feels like it is!!!
The food/drinks are excellent and reasonably priced. Even the service are great.
Also they do sell paintings of the artists from the area, on the walls, which I do enjoy looking at them all the time. Also the paintings do changes a bit each time I goes in, as they have been sold, and new painting put up on the wall, and so goes on. So I do enjoy looking at them.

I love Rouken Glen, have been trail running in the park for a few years and now I am there almost weekly pushing my baby in the pram. It is a gorgeous park with lovely trees and a pond, although if you want to feed the ducks you have to get there early, they are very well fed! The children’s play area is well equipped and good fun. When you have had enough of the outdoors there are 2 cafes to choose from and the cakes are very tasty!

Great park with a variety of features…wooded walks, large pond with swans, childrens playpark, visitors centre and the Boaters cafe. There’s also a garden centre at one end and some walled gardens. Always well used and well maintained - very nice park. Large enough to contain all the above comfortably and some open areas.

Our favourite park on the south side. Rouken Glen is huge in mature woodland. They have a lovely boating lake with swans and a lakeside cafe selling snacks as well as icecream. The childrens park is lovely with plenty of equipment for the children to play on. No dogs are allowed within the playarea making it enjoyable and dogmuck free.
The woodland walks are gorgeous especially at this time of year with leaves all falling. Look out for the waterfall--its amazing.

This park is not as good as it used to be. Sometimes you will get a fairground here but most of the time all there is to do is walk…...that’s ok if you like walking. Apart form that there is right in the middle a little park for kids. A boating lake that stinks and boats that leak…...not much else to say really.

Im not sure what my favourite aspect of this beautiful park was. The boating pond is very tranquil and calming. The nature walk was great too though, with beautiful views and the exhilleration of a fine walk on a summers day. The whole place is very welcoming, and theres always lots to do. Highly recommended.

A lovely park to visit in the summer, Rouken Glen park has numerous facilities to keep you and the kids busy. There is free parking available at all entrances to the park, though it can be quite a long walk to get from one side to the other so make sure you park near to whichever attraction you’re going for. There is a duck pond on one side, alongwith some pedal canoes. A children’s playpark dominates another side of the park, with enough to keep the kids busy for hours. There are a number of ice cream vans dotted around for any snacks. A garden centre is also attached to the park for anyone keen to grow their own plants. More scenic woodland, fountains and mini waterfalls are in the centre of the park.
