For as funky and alternative as Camden Town is supposed to be, there sure are a lot of chain restaurants and cafes on the High Street (including three Prets - just in case the first two don’t have your sandwich). Camden Bar and Kitchen is a bit more in keeping with what you’d expect of the neighbourhood - bohemian chic atmosphere of a cafe but not outrageously priced. The food isn’t what you’d call world class, but it is very decent, and it’s a nice place to go sit and just have a coffee.

I had quite possibly the worst dining experience of my life in the Camden Kitchen.
I had lunch in the Camden Kitchen with some friends during my lunch hour. When we walked in we were seated at a table that was dirty by a waitress who was incredibly unfriendly, she looked like it was a hassle to seat us. By this point we were already a quarter of an hour into my lunch break because it had taken us so long to choose somewhere to eat so there was no option of leaving.
We were given the menu’s and were disappointed to find such a limited menu, there really is very little choice with the food and it is very over priced.
The food arrived with dirty cutlery after waiting ages for something as simple as a fryup (the most expensive fryup I’ve ever had) and a sandwich and the food was awful. It tasted completely bland.
The waitress was rude throughout our meal so we decided not to pay the service charge at which point she started shouting at us in the middle of the restaurant, which was completely humiliating and unprofessional.
On top of that the seating was very uncomfortable.
I would avoid this one at all costs.

Arrived at Camden Town and couldn’t face the throngs of people heading down to the lock so turned on our heels and went in the opposite direction towards Mornington Crescent and stumbled into this place. Got a table right away at a busy Sunday lunch hour. Staff were efficient if not overly friendly and the food was good, they do breakfast and brunch through till 4pm. Convenient, nice atmosphere and eclectic furniture. Very Camden.

Quite a nice place - half way between a restaurant and a bar. If it’s not too busy you could easily spend a few hours here doing not that much and ordering the occasional drink. Good sized portions and fairly friendly although not very attentive staff.

Little cosy place, convenient just by the tube station. Typical Camden like laid back atmosphere, staff is nice, food was lovely, I had a grilled goats cheese salad, and prices are more than decent for London. I think that they have also won some awards…
