Cafe Wilder, Copenhagen

We liked this so much for lunch, we almost went back for dinner too. Slightly off the beaten track in a residential part of Christianshaven but only a short walk from the Knippelsbro bridge. Good range of locally produced Danish foods - generous helpings of open sandwiches, salads, herring without the silly price tags you see outside some Copenhagen restaurants. Service was really friendly and the place was full of Danes - few tourists - so we knew it was a good choice.

This small cafe in the afternoon cum restaurant in the evening reminded my a whole lot of l'Utime Atom in Bruxelles, that being, somewhere cool to hang out as well as eat. Both places have the massive unexpected bonus of the food being absolutely superb (well, the first time you go anyway!)

This steak (pictured), was, quite literally, incredible. No ultra-lean cut, but marbled with quite a lot of delicious fat, and they didn't ask how I wanted it, but it was perfect.

There's a decent lineup of beer too, including Tuborg on draft which tastes a lot better then when I remember it being on sale in the UK.

Very laid back, and highly recommended.
