I absolutely love Arthurs seat and the crags, it is one of my most favorite places in edinburgh to walk, hike and take in the beautiful views of edinburgh and surrounding areas.
there are many different footpaths in the area, so everyone can get the enjoyment of the seat and the crags.
The walk to the top of Arthurs seat can be quite a strain on the knees as it can be quite steep in parts, also wear sturdy, non slip shoes or walking boots.
there are gentler ways to the top, by winding round the shallower paths, may take a bit longer, but hey, if it is a beautiful day, who cares, enjoy it! the views from the top are well worth the climb.
There is also ample space for people to excersise their dogs, (don’t forget your poop scoop) and often there are mountain bikers practicing their off road skills.
Up a bit from St Margarets Loch, you will find St Anthony’s chapel, now a ruin, which is a great spot to stop off and take some photographs.

I’m sure you have heard it before - “Arthur’s seat is worth a look.” I’m here to tell you that it truly is. Whether you happen to be a local or a tourist don’t miss out on a chance to sit atop this “seat.” Cease the chance to appreciate Edinburgh North, South, East and West. There are a variety of paths to take you on your journey. Once you have left your footprints on one you can try another, you may want to do different walks on different days. The spectacular view is the reward atop this attraction. The almost untouched landscape lets you know you are in Scotland. This outing provides good exercise and an opportunity to get some fresh air. Remember to take your camera and an energy bar and bottled water to keep you going.
