For anyone who doesn’t know Argos offers catalogue based shopping, either online or in store. In store you go to one of the many catalogues laid out on shelves and go through, noting down the numbers of the things you want (pencils and paper are provided). You take your needs to one desk, then wait in another area for your order to be brought up.
Argos make a big deal of being cheaper because they don’t waste money on store display. This is certainly true of much of their stuff. On the other hand these days you might get yourself a bargain elsewhere. And of course, you don’t get to have a look at what you are buying until it comes up from the cellar, at which point it may be difficult to change your mind! I also find that the wait can seem very long… they do at least have seat here to sit in, and a display of what order is coming (though that isn’t very helpful!) They don’t seem to get the orders out in order!
As for the products, I’ve had mixed results. Both great bargains that are going well, and a kettle that only lasted a couple of weeks.
