A fantastic little tea shop situated just off Lothian Road, with a wide variety of teas, cakes, sandwiches and cold drinks; there’s plenty of space upstairs and a very cosy snug downstairs too (although on the first Saturday of the month it’s usually occupied by us Edinburgh Furmeet folks, thanks for having us TTT!)
Top Tip: Try the lapsang souchong, it’s fantastic.

I walked in here because of the free WiFi sign, and I am so glad that I did!
A thousand times better than the Starbucks right next to it, both in terms of product and atmosphere!
The sitting space is cozy and bohemian; lots of little flyers for local events are around and art hangs on the walls. Two obvious regulars were knitting in the corner.
And yes the owners were very entertaining!
If I lived close to it, I would become a regular—a community gem!

How could all these reviews not mention most obvious reason one should visit this little tea shop: the two Crazy Scotsmen who run the place! They make all the food with love (including DELICIOUS homemade soups) and always make you smile (and mostly laugh) before you leave. The baked goods will definitely impress you, and the soups are amazing.

I am a self confessed coffee snob, and I'd much rather drink a great tea, than suffer through a bad coffee, so, in an area devoid of good places to drink coffee, why not drink tea?
The staff here are very friendly and definitely know their stuff. They blend their own teas and brew it just the way it is meant to be brewed. Some may even think it is a bit obsessive the way they weigh the leaves and time the brewing process, but if you want the perfect tea, its how it should be. They have everything on the menu from a Scottish Breakfast (tea that is) to Rooibos, Oolong, and my personal favourite the green Qing Ta -- or something along those lines. To be honest I can never remember the name, but the staff know its my favourite, so I don't need to know!
There are plenty of tables and comfy couches to curl up into while you enjoy your cuppa, maybe while checking your email with the free wifi. The walls are decorated with some striking photos, and if you like what you see and your wallet allows, you can take them home. I haven't tasted the coffee, so for once I can't pass comment on that, and while the food cabinet looks well stocked, I haven't had any of that either....
Tea Tree Tea is easily missed as its located off Lothian Road 10 or so metres down Bread Street... but next time you crave caffeine, why not try some tea?!

Matcheff, 30 October 2010:
Cute little tea and cake shop -as the title suggests. Well, they dont only do tea they have sandwiches, paninis, soups, salads, cake you get the idea anyway.
Speaking of cake, the carrot cake I had was a huge piece and so thick but in a gorgeous way! Having said that I dont think Ive ever had a bad slice of carrot cake anywhere! Hmmm maybe Im a carrot cake whore?
Anyway, its cute in here, plenty of seating - downstairs as well as lovely window seating at the front. Its just a little bit grotty in here... thats the only downfall.... But I would go again.

Easily missed as it's a few doors down on a side street off Lothian Road, this is a real revelation.
Service is enthusiastic, the envionment clean and homely, prices reasonable and the paninis are to die for.
Check it out!

This is the best independent coffee/tea shop i ever had the pleasure to drink my espressos, some teas and a cheesecake to die for.
The staff and owners are a extremly friendly bunch of people. I been away for 3 month and from next week i know where i will be for my coffee breacks.

Best Tea shop in edinburgh by far. The guys there know everything about tea and if you are just getting into tea (don’t think my stomach can take more coffee) this is the place to drink and learn about the many types available.

With the rabbit from Alice in the logo, a word of the day to keep you smart, and the owners singing “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” in Scottish - what’s not to love?
This little tea/coffee place offers a great selection of various teas (some may even say intimidating), freshly home-made sandwiches, cakes, and salads, classic coffees, and wacky blends exclusive to Tea Tree Tea.
And there’s free wireless internet to top it off.
This is a great place to chill out or just grab a quick drink and a bite to eat.
Definitely recommended!
