I am the owner of Thames Plumbers and I can confirm that our company does NOT charge call out.
Our usual charge is £65 per the first hour of job (which however is the minimum charge) and £35 for each half an hour thereafter (Excluding materials and VAT; Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm). We are always clear about our charges, which are clearly mentioned before booking for any appointment.
It does sound very unusual to me that someone mentioned £65 and then charged you £75 without including that in the invoice, in the meantime I am afraid but is something I can not help with at this point of time (A call at the time of the visit would have done).
Regarding the 3% credit card charge, which is clearly included in our back invoice Terms and Condition and on our website, please note that we do offer customer the possibilities to avoid this by paying cash, debit card or by BACS transaction.
Moreover please note that every invoice include a section named’ Feedback’ where the customer is supposed to express its level of satisfaction regarding the job completion, and a section where, by signing the customer does hereby acknowledge the satisfactory completion of the described job.
I am offending by hearing that my engineers are being defined as ‘cowboys’. I can ensure yourself that no one would be able to run properly a business, concerning heating and electrical system and for a period of time which exceeds the three years of life without having valid and experienced engineers within their own company. If your assumptions were true I would be fully submerged by complains and my company would have gone bankrupt in a very short time.

I was firstly worried not to find any engineer willing to carry out the job in such a short time notice and during Easter Break and secondly I was scared to be billed for an enormous amount.
Thames Plumbers' Manager surprised me greatly when informed me that I could have had a new boiler installed the day next and for £1,900.
This happened yesterday-Good Friday!!!
Everything is working perfectly now and my only preoccupation is for tomorrow's lunch!
Thanks Thames Plumbers for the great and hard work done.
Happy Easter and Good Wishes to all.
Jan.
They also work weekends and evening/early mornings

I would not say their prices are budgeted but not even ‘high end’’.
They charge about 60/65 per hour depends upon your location and they don’t charge any other thing like petrol or parking fees but only materials( e.g. if they replace a part)
From my point of view they are reliable and skilled as they did not cause any problem to my property but just helped out solving/rectifying them!

Thames Plumber actually replaced my boiler just a week ago and helped me getting out a 7 years manufacturer guarantee from Worcester Bosch!
Plus what I finally paid was cheaper than estimated from other companies.

avoid by any means. the guy who came in said £65 an hour but he charged me £75 invoicing me only for £65 and of course advertising no charge for call out. he also said £10 is for parts but he did not change any part as actually he fixed the boiler by mistake just doing something accidentally at the electrical panel. ion the first instance he took one part of the boiler off and he said that's faulty. then he put it back as he said it's not actually there is another problem.
the guy did not speak English at all and they wanted to charge me 3% on a card transaction over the phone. avoid by any means the guys are cowboys! a very frustrating experience!

We required a gas hob to be installed and called Thames Plumber to request appointment for a 9AM start and I had to requested morning off at work to be able to be at home. At 9.30AM there was no sign of anyone coming to our flat and when I called the person doing the job, Rafael, what I could get was that he would get someone else to come much later. I indicated that it had to be in the morning and when I enquired the reason for not informing of being late, he said that he was busy, that's all. Well, we are all busy but basic customer manners of sending a short text or a courtesy call does not take long. When I asked why no text or call was sent, he just said in what I felt very patronising tone and language that he was busy and he could not continue conversation on the phone. Obviously I cancelled my appointment and I am not going to contact them again!

Dear Modama, It seems pretty much to me that your comment is nothing rather than a competitor spam review. Anyone that could check your profile would be able to see that you made only 2 reviews: one bad for us, in which you blame our bad services and one good for the ‘TAYLOR GROUP’, which you mentioned to be a ‘fantastic’ company. Well the question comes automatically: Why would you ever call a plumbing company which you never used before if you are already a satisfied customer of another?
Please be aware that Business is not going badly only within your company.
Inflation is struggling out all of our customers’ finances but this does NOT give justification to your unfair behaviour.

My local plumbers. I live in Docklands and I have been used this company for many years, they never disappointed me and I found their services more than acceptable. We all use the same company in this area(or at least all the people I know) and it offer several services, you can call them for a leakage or simply to replace a light or for your airconditioning maintenance.
By looking at what they have done for me I can see how Experts in these fields they are and I trust them.

Thames Plumbers have had 3 opportunities since January to repair some cracked grouting which they have still not been able to do. Not only was I forced to allow them into my property on 3 different occasions but I also had to bear with the arrogant and sexist attitude of Raphael the owner operator of Thames Plumbers. Please be warned, this company is completely incompetent and unprofessional!

I absolutely disagree with what ' obstante' has said about thames plumbers. I have been using them for more than 2 years now.!
Firstly they do NOT charge call out, you pay for the first hour of 'job' which is 65 + vat ( 59 if you book a day before, i know as regular customer) then they charge you for half an hour so in case it will take one hour and twenty minutes, you will not get charged for 2.
Secondly during the visit they tell you what the problem is and how much approximately it will cost to repair. Is up to you to decide if you want to go ahead with with it or not.
Moreover is it their faulty if the leak was coming from the downstair flat and no one could give them access?
Am sorry but I do not like people talking in this way about people and company which work I do appreciat as reliable and trustfully.
Just to let you know this kind of companies do have engineers with QUALIFICATIONS and if you are not sure about that, just CHECK.
I never had problem with them, They have always been available for me and my tennancies and mostly ,even if I am a regular customer, they NEVER took payment from me without authorisation.
I Recommend them!

I would say excelent customer service. I had a boiler that was completely out of order and I honestly thought I will need to replace the whole boiler. I had a look online for the plumber and found Thames Plumbers. Very nice, polite, profesional enginer came had a look at the problem, he told me that the problem can be easily fixed with out need to replace the boiler and no need to brake the bank to pay the bill. I was so happy to hear the good news. They in fact fixed the problem with excelent quality high standart and inteligence.
I had recomended the service of Thames Plumbers to my mum and a few friends and they were all happy about the service they had received from Thames Plumbers.
I would definetely call them again if I have any problems.
Thank you very much Thames Plumbers.

Their website is full of misrepresentations. The phrase of "No call out charge" on their website turned into £78 call out charge in practice; "free estimates" on their website turned into "we don't do free estimates" on the phone after they charged me and during a phone conversation regarding payment! These are the phrases used to induce customers into contracts.
For example, they claim "no call out charge and only pay for the work we do", but after they come to check the leak, they stated they needed to access to the property downstairs too, so they didn't do anything but charged me £78 for the attendance only! They took my card details and the person on the phone couldn't speak English, so the plumber took my card and told the numbers on it in another language.
For the actual leak, they had arranged a meeting with the landlady downstairs without my knowledge and had apparently done the work. That same day, they called me to demand £120 more! Only after their "plumbing services",the tenants upstairs also started complaining about not getting any heating or hot water! I asked them to resolve it, again they said they would charge extra! I said it should be urgently done, but they never turned up for four days and the tenants lived in cold conditions with no hot water. In the end, I gave up hope with them and had to book another plumber to sort out the boiler, resulting in extra costs!
Despite my attempts to contact the so said customer services dep. with poor English speaking staff to ask them to review their charges, I could not get anywhere. I told them to resolve this issue through other channels like courts. Today, I noticed that they had used the same card details and took £120 without my knowledge (unauthorised transaction).
So, do be careful and never give your card details to such companies who may take your money without your knowledge and charge any amount they like. They are not the sort of people you would like to negotiate either due to their poor language skills, no knowledge of UK contract or consumer law, with a website full of misrepresentations. As there is no regulatory body for plumbers in the UK where all plumbers have to be a member of, customers are ripped off by such companies and it is very hard to get out of situations like this.
This was a big lesson for me in terms of selecting plumbers by making sure that they are a member of an institution where there is code of practice which they have to follow.
I would not recommend them.
