A growing airport for the Anatolia region.
Would you believe there was more queueing here than at Gatwick? Security controls to enter the building, usual check-in queue, then a queue to get through passport control, more security check controls to get to the boarding gate and queues to get on the actual plane.
Not a barrel of laughs.
The shops are OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive. The Pizza Hut Express (absolutely not to be confused with Pizza Express) offered pizzas for 40 Lira a throw. That’s over £16 for what I would call a medium sized pizza. Small coke was 8.5 lira - over £3 for a teeny tiny cup of cola. Atrocious.
Also, everything souveniry was well over-priced too. You expect it, to a certain extent, but I felt it was beyond what you’d expect with a huge mark up from what you’d pay, even in the more expensive shops, outside of the airport.
It did have a redeeming feature, and that was that the lighting was a nice departure (pun intended) from your usual unforgiving airport flourescent glare.
It’s also relatively easy to get around as it’s quite small.
