The Moody Goose At The Old Priory

When the Moody Goose was located in Kingsmead Square in Bath we went often and it was far and away our most favourite restaurant. The standard was maintained with the move to the Old Priory but sadly it is just a bit too far to go for us.

In Midsomer Norton just outside Bath a restaurant with rooms in an old priory in the town centre near the church. Lots of character and pretty garden but not enough seats to sit outside. Food is competent English with a French influence and good choice. Wines are pricey but a good selection of house wines at around £18 a bottle. The Sauvignon is very good. Breakfasts are also excellent. Good Kir Royale’s and G and T’s. Very friendly and helpful service.

Rooms are a little on the small side and lacked a few attention to details, a shower in the bath but nowhere to hang the shower on the wall, no loo paper (!), a fair bit of noise from the television in the adjoining room but apart from that pleasant enough for a one night stay.
