5 stars for Zahara de la Sierra
Review of Zahara de la Sierra from 16 June 2010

Of all the hidden gems that Spain possesses this is one of the nicest.

A tiny town tucked away in the Ronda, a tiny castle sits atop an outcrop of rock around which the town curls and right across the way is the man made reservoir at the end of which are the partially submerged farmsteads! VERY beautiful and well worth the excursion

For those interested in history, Zahara had a French garrison in 1808 which Spanish Anti Anglo General Ballasteros layed siege to unsuccessfully

the castle is as it was then...complete with musket ball damage!!!
