Aéroport Toulouse-Blagnac

nice middle size airport on the south of the France. a lot of different destinations. interesting choice of low cost companies.

The Toulouse-Blagnac airport is actually in Blagnac but easy to reach from the city center. Take the bus or the shuttle rather than the taxi (30-35€), they take you up to the train station.
To park more than a day, use P5 or P6, it is quite cheap and you can check the availability on line. Plan another 20 minutes to get to the Terminal D with the free shuttle.
The airport itself deserves 4-stars for its size. Shops, good service, clean and easy to understand. Still refurbishing but for the best. Small but friendly, well-organised.

Simple layout, no long walks. Most staff spoke understandable english. I’m pleased to hear the airport is getting renovated, this is why I haven’t given it 5-stars.

Well, Toulouse's airport is presently renovated. New Terminal parts are attached, but the old ones are still in use. Therefore, the impression is twofold.

As the airport is a rather small one, all distances are acceptable, it won't take you more than 5min to any place in the buildng. Upon arrival youz first enter the public area and then go to the baggage belts. Some of them aren't even separated from the public area so anyone coming into fhe airport can grab a bag and run away.
Some belts are seperated behind automatic doors, showing "passengers only" signs. Though this doesn't increase safety at all, it feels at least a little more protected.

Unfortunately, the aircondition was barely working the days I experienced Toulouse airport.

Ok, lets check some general issues:

Food: xxx - As all food outlets arround the airport seem to be operated by the same company, the food is pretty much the same all ofter the place. The food itself is o.k., the sandwices look good and the beer was propely cooled. Hefty prices as usual (Pizza in a self-service bistro: 13,30 - 15,50 EUR)

Ambiance: xxx - The French and the concrete.. there must have been a time, when concrete was just to cheap and thereforer used in every possible place. At least the new parts of the terminal have a little more open and colourful architecture.

Shops: xx - Nothing special, just a small variety.

Infrastructure: xx - Short ways at the airpot, but lack of proper airconditioning. SIngle queu system before security checks - always annoys you at first, until you realize, that the queu moves in a reasonable Speed. Poor communication, poor baggage claims.
No sub- or railway connection, only cars, busses and taxis. Rather low air traffic usage, so no special delays.

Specials: Main Airbus factory on site, rare paint schemes come by or testflights of new models.
