These days the staff when they have served you with two pints and you give them a tenner they don't take the note but go to the till first to put two pints on the till and then return to you and ask you for the money ie Six pounds for example BUT they either don't know the price of a pint, cannot multiply by two or have been taught one approach and cannot deviate from it. They almost always cannot carry out a conversation whilst they are in this process...strange

Not every single evening but very frequently we visited this nice pub to have one or two pints. On other occassions we've popped in to have some food. We've always had a warm welcome and the landlord and bar-staff were friendly and corteous.
Often we had a long chat with the landlord since he had been in germany for a while - a warm welcome, a good chat every ow and then, lots of laughter and moderate prices for food and beverages. That's what i call a pub worth being visited when you're in Bridlington.
We popped in after a wintery walk on beach and found a really lovely warm welcome. Bar staff were friendly and got chatting to the landlord about the local area as am thinking of moving to brid, he was really helpful and would defo make this pub our local. Stayed for lunch had fish and chips was super fresh fish. Really good value.

Called for a drink at the Beaconsfield Arms, Flamborough Road, Bridlington today lunchtime, 4 July 2010, and ordered a pint of John Smith's bitter and a half pint of Foster's lager for my lady wife. I was charged £5.55 by the 20ish blonde barmaid.
Realising this was a tad expensive I quized the bar staff if I had been overcharged. "No!" was the reply from the blonde. So I asked what price the beer.
The landlord/manager suddenly appeared and quoted £5.55 for two pints and infered that the barmaid had pressed the "pint" key instead of the "half pint" key by accident. I rolled my eyes and said "This is my first visit to your pub and I'm overcharged?".
He immediately said to the blonde "Give him his £5.55 back" and to me "Where are you sitting?" I indicated I was outside.
I thought " Cash back, an apology forthcoming and have this one on the house?"
But no!
He walked outside to my lady wife and snatched the half pint from her lips saying, "I'll take that madam" and under his breath said that I had an attitude problem"!
He had effectively thrown me out of his pub for contesting the price charged for my beer and the eye rolling?
Now, the barmaid took my order correctly, she pulled the beer correctly but then "accidentally" overcharged me £1.50. Surely she knows roughly how much a pint and a half of beer costs . . . and it's NOT £5.55 . . . it's £4.05 and that's a BIG noticeable difference!
Have you noticed, in general, when a barperson "hits the wrong key" it's always the "pint" key when you've only had a half . . . it's NEVER the "half" key when you've ordered a pint!
As a final comment for the landlord/manager, please remember, in future "the customer is ALWAYS right and "You never get a second chance to make a first impression"!
For prospective customers, always check your change!
