We were looking for a country pub for a quick bite for lunch – we had driven past lots of empty looking pubs but this one had a very busy car park which is always a good sign. Anyway when we went in there was only one other couple there. Presumably the houses nearby use the carpark!!!! The landlady was very nice to us and the menu suited so we stayed. We all had ciabatta rolls which were good and well presented. As it was so empty there wasn’t much atmosphere but with log fires and and a good crowd of people it would be very different.

We came here on Friday evening, where we had a tremendous wait for food. The staff were pleasant enough, and the food was ok. Prices are a little high.
In conclusion my husband and I will not be returning to this place

I have been to the White Horse on many many occasions for the last three years or so, perhaps even longer than that. Each and every occasion has been a pleasure with great food and service from start to finish. The place is always immaculately clean, tastefully furnished and decorated. That's always a great start. Food is available in both the bar and the restaurant. A very good range of great dishes on the menu, well cooked fresh food (not rubbish from the frozen food companies) you know they have a chef who has learned his/her way around a chopping board! I have eaten there many times and never had a bad meal, not once! Needless to say there are cheaper places to eat at, (You can always buy cheaper but generally you get what you pay for pubs normally offering “plates full to overflowing” with something? often not even right to call it food) that has been made in some factory, frozen, sent out to some pub, thawed out re-heated and thrown on your plate. If that’s what your after fine. However, The White Horse offers “real food” real fresh food, cooked by chefs who know what to do with it. Cooked perfectly, nicely garnished served by very nice staff. In a very nice environment. All in all a very enjoyable experience. I might add I personally think the food is excellent every time, never had a bad meal there. They have a constant nice list of ever changing music, everyone has different taste but I like it. To top it all they have from time to time various special events Jazz nights and the like. Only been to one of there Jazz nights, which was very nice, I just seem to be busy when they are on. So…….all in all, you would be very wise to get yourself a treat and try The White Swan at Hurst Green.
