Burgermeister, Kreuzberg, Berlin

Good burgers, but unfortunately (or fortunately for the owner) this place is so popular that you have to wait for ages till you get your burger.

The wait is sometimes a bit long … but worth it …. Awwwwesome burgers!

The reviews here made me expect a super burger and a long waiting time. The 5 minutes waiting time was better than expected but I was the only person at 12:05. 10 minutes later there were already 5 people waiting. The nearby construction site was horribly loud so I had to take the burger with me.

As I said my expectations were high when I took the burger out of the box and even the look disappointed me but it got worse when I bit into it. It’s just an average burger. Nothing special at all. No surprise, if you take a cheap Kraft cheese it can not taste good. If you take 50 cents for the cheese it’s outrageous.
Without the high expectations it could have been a solid 3 stars…

Great atmosphere and cool location. Perfect for a late-night meal if you are in the area. Had a great time, but the seating was a little crowded. I ended up having to stand and eat by the counter close to the garbage and where everyone ordered. Burger itself was great. Fair price. The food was less memorable than the location though.

Definitely one of the best late night stops in Kreuzberg for a quick burger. The meat is a bit thin, but still not cooked to hell like most Berlin burger joints. The menu is small, but classic, the chili cheese fries remind me of my youth, and the meat is fresh, not frozen. One of the few quick burger places in Berlin that understands this is necessary. And having a grilled bun, makes it that much better.

Best Burger Place in Berlin.

In my opinion, Burgermeister serves the tastiest, freshest, and best-value takeout burgers in Berlin. There are a couple of other places I would go if I wanted to sit down in an indoor establishment and have a proper burger meal, but as far as fast food goes, Burgermeister is the best.

I don't know if they make their own patties or not, but they're clearly a huge cut above the standard frozen fare that most restaurants serve. They are always fresh, tasty, and served a little rare.

They've obviously got nothing to hide with regard to their ingredients and food preparation; you can stand right there at the window and watch them do their work.

So many Berlin establishments give zero attention to quality, and it's refreshing to see that Burgermeister -- despite their former public toilet location -- is not just another cheap entrepreneur serving shitty food to tourists.

Granted, I was rather drunk when I ate here, but the burgers were really good. Combined with fair prices, and a unique location, means that I'll be back to give it a second try.

Go here for a quick burger-fix and don't forget to try the fries with strange home made sauces like mango-curry!

i think the previous reviews were fairly accurate - burgers aren't amazingly delicous, but def. tasty - fresh and not completely overcooked. Prices are fair. The service is fast and the atmosphere is one-of-a-kind, underneath the u-bahn. only problem is finding a seat - in the summer you can easily take your burgers and eat in the little "park" across the street.

Really delicious burgers and very affordable (3-4 bucks for a massive burger). Also quite a unique location, directly under the train tracks, in what used to be an old public toilet. I highly recommend the 'meista burger’, the grilled onions are absolutely fantastic!

Burgermeister serves a decent burger, based on a 180 gramme patty supplemented by nice, fresh condiments. At 3,20 Euro for a hamburger and 3,40 for a cheeseburger, you get very good value for your money. In taste, quality and size, the 180 gramme Burgermeister Cheeseburger is vastly superior to, say, the equally prized 125 gramme Quarter Pounder/Royal at McD’s.

The fries, at 1,10 are reasonably prized, but somewhat lacking in crispyness and flavour.

Certainly not GREAT burgers, but very, very good value and well above the average for Berlin.

Edit: after a few re-visits, I am upgrading to 5 stars for the excellent value for money.

This place has delicious burgers, and at a size that makes you think you’ve somehow left Europe for a moment (Every place, in Germany at least, serves meager portions)

I will admit, this place attracts a crowd of drunken party goers, especially on weekends, and really seems to cater to this clientele. But I would have no qualms about coming here stone cold sober at 1 in the afternoon on a tuesday.

It’s most definitely worth a try, and the “Chili-Cheeseburger” (their flagship menu item) seems to employ just the right amount of spice. At 3,50Euro you won’t be finding a better burger unless you teleport yourself over to Prenzlauerberg to Kreuzburger (see my review of that place, also excellent)

burgers are the same here as everywhere else really, nothing special. but convenient if you are going clubbing nearby.
