I visited the City centre branch Academy for the first time last week and I must say the waxing they do is what makes them stand out from the others. They seem to train their own staff in their academies and don’t put them in the main salons until they have completed their advanced waxing training. I usually just book into the normal City Centre salon, but the academy is half the price! Perfect for us students! Yeah ok sometimes it takes the girls around 10 mins more to do your treatment but for the price and the results you really can’t argue. You get the same results as you would in the salons but sometimes you may get a female manager in there with you assessing the girls as my mates advised but hey! Im not fussed. All in all a fantastic experience and I will be going back!

Review of Brazilian Waxing Company from 28 February 2013

So my girlfriends talked me into having a Hollywood for the first time. Apparently this is where all the hair is taken off? I had no idea, Anyway I booked my appointment online through their website. Easy and efficient. I arrived at the city centre branch and the receptionist was really lovely, very friendly. She explained which therapist would be doing my treatment and also that I was a little early but asked if id like a hot drink while I waited. So I was brought a hot cup of coffee in the waiting are while I read a magazine while waiting she also said ‘if you need anything else just give me a shout’ which I thought was quite a nice touch. My therapist then came through and called my name and said’ would you like to follow me, we’re just downstairs today’ I didn’t even realise how big this place was. When I walked into the room, the therapist asked me a number of medical questions for my safety and then left the room for me to get undressed. Once i'd lay on the bed the therapist came back into the room and started the treatment. She explained everything that she was doing and also told me the reasons why they prep the skin before waxing etc. She asked me if the temperature of my wax was ok. I was that involved in conversation with the therapist I hadn’t even realised she had finished my Hollywood until she told me the treatment was finished. I went in for my appointment at 3:20 and she had finished by 3:35. She was really lovely and she was so quick. We just talked like we had known each other for years. When I came out she showed me the way back to reception and I paid for my treatment. To which the receptionist asked if everything was ok with my treatment. I then had to leave my feedback on their I-pod thingies, very space age! Lovely receptionist, lovely therapist. Lovely décor and just a fab experience. I am without a doubt going back very soon for my next wax.

Come to get my hollywood and eyebrow threading every 6 weeks or so in Manchester. Used to go to the Oxford Road branch in the precint when i was at uni, but the salon has moved further towards town now. I think they have one near selfridges too. Treatments are always consistent, and more thorough than everywhere else ive been to. Worth the trip up from Chester (if combined with a shopping day of course!). Prices are very reasonable and the salon is nice inside, no complaints. PLEASE OPEN UP A BRANCH IN CHESTER NEXT!!! :)

My friend recommended this salon to me and now I'm a regular for threading and waxing! I am always very impressed with the quality of treatment I receive time after time, the staff are very friendly and very professional. I have been to other salons but Brazilian Waxing Company is very hard to beat. I was surprised how reasonable the prices of treatments are too - as little as £10 for eyebrow and upper lip threading. I also love the salon's interior which is very modern, clean and inviting - everything I'd expect. Overall, I'm one very satisfied customer!

Coming up North from London I was on a mission to find a great, reasonably priced salon. This is the best salon I've been to for waxing and threading and is better than salons where i've paid double the price in the past.

The decor is funky and the salons have a very relaxed, clean, fresh vibe.

I have always been greeted with a friendly face on reception and the system is organised.

Once in the room you have a little chat with your very professional beautician and a quick introduction to them. How long since last waxing? What exactly would you like? Then you get a wet, hygienic towel so that you can freshen up. The bed is always clean and no plastic uncomfortable sheets or paper roll that can often get in the way during waxing. The room has a television - so you are nicely distracted too.

The beauticians seem extremely well trained (I have had many different ones) and they have a routine way of doing the hollywood, which is fantastic, as no bits are missed and attention to detail is wonderful. If there are a couple of short hairs they may tweeze them out, but they will always ask if you are ok with this. The back of bum is also never forgotten, which I believe to be very important!

I have been in many salons before where it is chaotic, paper system of booking which often goes wrong, beauticians that do not speak English and beauticians that have even stopped mid wax due to my stubborn hair growth. This is a completely opposite experience.

Advice: If you have eyelash extensions make sure you factor in patch test a couple of days before hand.

The result is fantastic, price excellent value and the whole procedure is professional and seamless.

Will be returning!!!!!

I have visited the BWC twice, both times for a Brazilian Wax. I first visited the Oxford Road branch (University Presinct that doesn't exist anymore) and then the Cheapside branch in Manchester City Centre. I was a complete wax virgin before I visited the BWC and overall, I've had a good experience with the company. They are great for people on a budget. In my experience the quality of their treatments is not quite a 100%, but their salons are friendly and accessible.

My first wax at Oxford Road branch was a nerve-wrecking experience. As soon as I stepped into the salon, I felt more at ease. The receptionist was absolutely lovely and made me feel welcome. Unfortunately my beautician was running late, and my wax commenced nearly half an hour late. The waiting area was good and there were lots of magazines to read. I did find the booth set-up a little bit strange, but got over it pretty quickly. The treatment booths are private and they have large screens playing music videos. I liked that, it really helped take my mind of what was about to happen! My beautician (Ruth) was lovely. She explained the waxing process and asked me some questions and then left me to undress.

The waxing itself took about 10 minutes. My beautician was really quick and seemed to know exactly what she was doing. She kept chatting to me, which helped keep my mind off the pain. It really didn't hurt *that* much, and it was very quickly over. Unfortunately the wax was a little bit too hot, although it felt ok at the time and she did ask whether it felt too hot and I said no (the next morning I woke up in a bit of pain and there was a burn on my bits!).  While I appreciated that the waxing was over quickly, the quality was not great. There was still hair left in places, and yes, having a painful blister on your bits for a week kind of makes you wonder if it was worth it!

My second visit to Cheapside branch was very similar. I went back because I did love having smooth skin for weeks.  There was a lovely receptionist again and a warm welcome to the salon. This time my appointment started 15 minutes late. I really like the set-up of the Cheapside branch, the waiting area was very comfortable and the salon has a very relaxing atmosphere. Unfortunately while I was waiting, there was a very displeased customer who had been waiting for her appointment for 30 minutes and was complaining quite vocally!

My beautician was again a lovely girl (I think her name was Abby). She really put me at ease and was very friendly. The treatment room was comfortable and clean and there were music videos playing again. The waxing itself took about the same time as before, although this time the wax was the right temperature and my beautician took a little bit more time and also asked if I was pleased with the result. I didn't want to start feeling myself down there, let alone look in the mirror to see if I was happy, so I just said yes as the landing strip looked really neat. At home, I did notice that again the wax had been a bit sloppy and there was hair left in places.

Overall, I feel that the BWC is a bit of a production line. They try to get you in and out as quickly as possible and the quality of the service suffers in the process. They were running behind on their schedule both times I visited. Both times the treatment felt a bit rushed, although the beauticians were absolutely lovely and made me feel at ease.

You can't argue with the price though. You get what you pay for, I suppose.

Having intimate waxing can be a very daunting experience. The girls working here are lovely and the wax you receive will be over before you know it! I think the BWC are an incredibly brave company and I feel they have really made intimate waxing more accessible in Manchester.

I would recommend to those on a budget who are not bothered about a highly personalised service and don't mind receiving a bit of a rushed treatment.

I used to be a regular with this salon, until I went to their branch on Cheapside. Would I return? No, no, no, no. The weather was awful outside, and the look on their receptionists face mirrored that. Upon trying to strike up conversation with the blonde girl on the desk, I was interrupted by her thundered expression, and a sharp "WHAT NAME IS IT? TAKE A SEAT." Now, if someone can't even play along with a conversation about the rain outside, I do not trust their interpersonal skills, nor their ability to man the front of house.

Onto my wax. I sat in their waiting area, almost 10 minutes early. I was just reading one of their outdated magazines when my therapist approached me. I did not quite catch her name, but she was a slim yet broad tall blonde girl. She also looked miserable as sin. She stood over me with her arms crossed and huffed and puffed when I was collecting my bags together, at this point I did not want to continue with my brazilian wax, as the 2 members of staff I'd been faced with had succeeded in making me feel intolerably uncomfortable. When we were in the room, she got the treatment over and done with within about 7/8 minutes, a flash compared to the usual 20/25 but boy oh boy did it hurt! More than any wax I'd ever had. It also left me with a somewhat wonky landing strip.

I have never been so keen to leave a business in all my life. If any of the owners/managers at BWC read this, I'd suggest putting your staff through more training, it seems from a few reviews online over the last year or so your standards have really slipped, and I for one will not be putting money into your pocket for such dire customer service again.

I found this company through the internet.
I live in Brighouse and it seemed so nice that a train to Manchester was worth it.
Went in first time and loved it.
Booked it 2nd time and while on my way, received a phone call saying the beautician rang in sick so hey had to cancel it.
Booked it 3rd time (approx 1month after ), received a text about 2hs before confirming my appointment, all good. Arrived in there 10minutes before the appointment to find out that someone (the secretary couldn't say who) cancelled my appointment for some reason (she didn't know why either)!!! Someone else had booked when mine was cancelled so they couldn't do it. Showed the text still not good enough, asked them to cancel the other one appointment and all I had was "it's against our policies"!!!???!!!
Asked to call manager, she was off.
Asked for a solution, wouldn't even mind to go to one of the others saloons, all booked.
Didn't have help at all.
Asked my boyfriend to come and help me doing a formal complaint and only then they decided they had time to wax some then and the rest 2hs later in between other appointments..

Never been in such an unprofessional saloon before!! It's been a month and still didn't receive an apologize!!

Hi Scerquinho. I apologise for such a late reply. In August we were having big problems with our booking system hence people were being double booked and cancelled. Our systems have now been over hauled and are working as efficiently as a whisper. Please email me on info@brazilianwaxingcompany.com with your Full Name and Contact Number and make it to the attention of Mussab. We will try our best to make you happy again :)

Ohhhh I used to really, really like this place. I thought the staff were lovely and the facilities were great. Until last week when I went to the new Oxford Road branch opposite the station. The treatment was ok, but when it came to paying they hadn't got a card machine. Ok, so I count out my change.... just 5p short. I looked at the receptionist and said "can I owe you 5p?" to which her mouth dropped and she informed me "No, under no circumstances". I thought she was joking. She wasn't. It was absolutely monsoon-like outside and I had to queue for the cash machine for 10 minutes just for the damn 5p.

It was all a bit annoying and I put it down to the receptionist (blonde girl) being blessed with beauty rather than cerebrums. However, I later wrote to them and I was very disappointed to receive a cheeky response: "We know it's a pain in the butt but we are getting a card machine soon. It's not petty, the receptionists floats have to cash correctly." They should use their University Precinct branch to teach the adjacent Business School students how not to deliver customer service.

Oh well, they've lost more than 5p in custom from me and my friends.

Hi Caroline. I apologise for such a late reply. I am really sorry that you were given so much bother over 5p. This has never been company policy. Review of Brazilian Waxing Company from 10 July 2011

Having had one neutral and one extremely negative experience of bikini waxing, I was a little nervous of going back in the water, but on the recommendation of my housemate I decided to book an appointment here. Booking is really easy, done online with all time blocks that are free being displayed to you on the screen. I booked 2 or 3 days in advance and there wasn't much left but I wanted to go on a Saturday in July when everyone is preparing for their summer holidays, so understandable! And also comforting to know it is so popular.

I went to the Oxford Road Precinct salon, which has lovely decor but it a little cramped as the unit it is in is tiny. The girl on reception was friendly and there was lots of magazines in the waiting area to keep you interested. My appointment was at 5.20pm and they were running a little late, but only by 10 min which didn't bother me. I was called through by my waxer, a really friendly and glam girl with a cracking cockney accent. The layout of having each client seen in a little booth rather than a walled off room is quite odd, but there are tvs playing music videos in each room which makes you feel like noone will hear your conversations.
I opted for the brazilian wax and the whole process was soo quick! My waxer really knew what she was doing, she was chatty and helped put me at ease having only ever had simple bikini waxes before. The whole thing took about 10 minutes and I'm really pleased with the results.
If you're thinking £20 is maybe a bit steep and you might go somewhere cheaper, think again!! I've made this mistake and paid the price with bruises, wax burns and just a generally rubbish job! Put your nethers in good hands and go to the Brazilian Waxing Company!!

I was looking for a good waxing salon in Manchester when a friend recommended the BWC. I went to the City Centre location because the Oxford Road location was completely booked for several days.

I'm really impressed. The salon itself is nicely decorated and there is a waiting lounge with comfortable sofas. The waxing room was very clean and comfortable. There was a TV playing music videos to take your mind off of the pain of waxing. I was provided with disposable underpants to wear during waxing and wipes in case I needed to freshen up. I'm fairly nervous when I get a bikini wax, but the waxer was really friendly and put me at ease. She was quick and thorough, and it was the least painful wax I've ever had. The results are great, and for only £10! I've paid far more for worse waxing jobs at posh salons. This place is definitely worth a visit.

I love this place! Its website has an easy to use booking system; type your name and number and it will remember you for future visits. Pick your treatment and an available time slot and you're booked in. Job done.

I particularly like getting my eyebrows threaded here as it's only 7 quid. Most department stores have eyebrow threading bars that will set you back £13 or more. For £7, I get perfectly shaped eyebrows and am always pleased with end result.

One little note: if you have sensitive skin, I'd recommend you don't use the soothing gel afterwards as it can irritate.

Being one of those lady types, I like to keep myself well groomed. So, I have often been known to traipse over to Brazilian Waxing Company on Oxford Road and hand over my hard earned cash so that they can spruce up my straggly bits.

In terms of customer service, this place is doing everything right. It has an easy peasy online booking system meaning that all you need to do is pick a treatment and a time slot, and - because it's in the heart of student land - none of its treatments will cost you more than £15. I'm a particularly big fan of their eyebrow threading treatments. Yes, it will hurt more than the fiery pits of hell themselves, but you can't argue with forking out £7 for something which would easily cost you twice that anywhere else.

My only gripe with Brazilian Waxing Company is a small one. The last time I went in there, I was told off by the lady dripping candle wax onto my knackers for wearing bad knickers. Poor show beautician lady! I would have said something, but I was scared where she might stick that hot stuff. So, if you do decide to come here, be sure to wear good scanties!
