No stars at all I only gave them one as I was not allowed to leave it blank! Ordered airbeds from Tesco's as my grand daughters are staying this weekend so paid for next day delivery. Two messages received both stating that the delivery would arrive between 12:00 and 1:00pm. Made sure I was in, left Canterbury at 11:35am. Arrived home to find my son had already arrived to visit with the two girls while I was out. My daughter arrived home at the same time as me. Before 12:00 the house was already full of people My husband was outside gardening. I have two dogs who were in the house. When another daughter arrived later they went mad barking at her. At 1:15 I decided to look at the tracking info as I was surprised that they had not arrived and found that they were claiming to have attempted delivery at 12:43 and that my parcel had now been returned to the depot. You can imagine how mad I was!!! They had left a card in my post box at the bottom of my path so they had not even been as far as my front porch where I had also left a message in case I was out directing them to leave the parcel in the porch as I needed it. The directions on the order had already said that I wanted it left in the porch. My dogs always bark if someone approaches the house so I am sure that no attempt was made to deliver my parcel. Tesco's: PLEASE STOP USING THIS USELESS COMPANY!!!
The black hole as we call it. Items turned up in very battered box opened with stuff missing, declined on door step. Asked for it to be sent back to supplier which agreed....supplier never received! contacted Yodal they said it was signed for by customer I ask for proof of this wish never arrived. many weeks past with conservations with both parties (supplier) neither are excepting blame or responsibility. Almost 2 months later still nothing.
if you can avoid YODAL then AVOID AT ALL COST!!!! ESPECIALLY AYLYESHAM!!! thieving bastards.

Checked Amazon site, found HDNL (freefone) number to contact - when contacted, recorded message stated would cost 10p per minute!! Rang number, recorded message asking for 8 digit number on delivery card - of course I didn't have one, so couldn't take it further with HDNL.
5 stars plus to Amazon - I contacted them and they immediately promised another item would be sent out that day, confirmed by email. This was done and I received it first thing this morning. VERY GOOD AMAZON service!!
WHY DO THEY STILL USE HDNL/YODEL???

Ordered a new DVD player on boxing day from Amazon and PAID EXTRA for GUARANTEED DELIVERY by Fri Dec 28th. The parcel was dispatched from Amazon on boxing day and HDNL updated the tracking status to "Borehamwood Depot Arrival Scan - 27 December 2012 1:20:00 AM". Since then nothing has changed.
I chatted to HDNL staff on Sat Dec 29th, requesting an update of the status of my parcel. The customer service rep didn't have any more information but said they would request a "rescan and delivery" of the parcel. Today is Friday Jan 4th and I still haven't seen or heard anything about this parcel.
I have been in contact with Amazon (I must say I'm very impressed by their response times and efficiency). They have organised a new parcel for me to be delivered by tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be delivered by HDNL this time, because then it's GUARANTEED NOT TO DELIVER by tomorrow.
I expect a lot more from a "delivery" company. They even have all the information available in their systems. How about monitoring the amount of parcels being stuck with status "arrival scan" in a depot somewhere. Surely you could automatically monitor this and take action to resolve any issue a lot quicker.
I have just signed the following petition to get Amazon to stop using HDNL...

I now have a 50 mile round trip to collect from depot. Complete waste of time and appalling service.
Do not use!

Received text morning 03/08/12. Chair to be delivered that day, shortly after chair delivered and signed for at. Delivery driver said only had one chair, other would probably be delivered another time, fair enough.
Morning 04/08/12 received new text chair to be delivered between 12pm & 20.00pm, strange!! being Saturday. Never mind cancelled going out to wait for delivery. Guess what , yep you got in one, no delivery.
Monday 06/08/12, contacted Asda and HDNL, also tracked order. Guess what, every body says both parcels delivered and signed for. Second parcel delivered at 13.18pm 03/04/12 and signed for, by whom?
Returned from shopping about 12.00 to watch Olympics and stayed in all day. I live alone, no visitors that day, never heard doorbell, received anything or signed for anything after first parcel arrived.
Made to feel by all phone contacts that I have done something wrong! Everyone says they understand(Ha!) and will launch investigations. They all said they will look into it, I want to know who signed for my parcel!
This is a very much edited version of what I would like to say.
Goodbye ASDA

Since christmas 2011, this is at least the fourth time that I have ordered an express Saturday delivery from Amazon UK, to be delivered by Yodel/HDNL, and it has not arrived. Worse still, the delivery driver ALWAYS enters the tracking info as "delivered to customer" and ALWAYS does this at 4:55pm when he knows it will be too late for me to phone the depot to complain that he hasn't actually been.
My husband and myself have complained about this every time and have been lucky to receive the parcel on the Monday (if at all...). The last two times we have complained we were told that when the drivers make a delivery attempt they are supposed to note down the colour of the front door of the house. Twice we have been told that he has written the wrong colour front door, where he has just guessed it as he hasn't even been.
The weekday driver, who was far more reliable (and friendly too), has said that the Saturday driver quite often goes to the pub at 3pm and fails to complete his afternoon deliveries. They are SUPPOSED to deliver until 8pm. Why oh why oh why do HDNL keep this driver on if he has been doing exactly the same thing since before Christmas?
If I had a choice about using this company then I wouldn't touch them. As it is I have voiced my complaint to Amazon UK and hope that other Amazon customers who have the same problem with HDNL will do the same, as they really shouldn't be in business.

After, It`ll be there iether today or tomorrow and then after me conntacting them again, it was another It will be with you tomorrow I finely made a sumwhat angry forth phonecall to the depot and asking to speak to someone in charge of deliverys did I get to speek to an actualy helpfull lady (Shaney) who said she would look into it and ring me back and do you know what unlike the last girl that had said that, she did. Are you sitting down, this is the reason said items had`nt been sent out or even put into a van THEY ARE TO HEAVY and we are only a small depot, we only have one driver and one transit van they should never have been delivered here, so why did it take an angry phonecall for me to get this information? would my property still be sitting on the depot floor? they surely should have had the decency to have contacted me to try and resolve the problem not that its my problem anyway.Shaney came to the rescue again said she would speak to the manager and get back to me,the manager agreed to send out a two man`ed van tomorrow with my delivery. Just one more why, why did`nt the van driver get something sorted, I`ll wait in again tomorrow with fingers crossed, wish me luck, cos thats what you have to rely on when dealing with YODEL.

Firstly, I wouldn’t give HDNL any rating unless it was for a pathetic and badly run delivery company.
I purchased an expensive package from Amazon. Checked the tracker on the website and found that the package was out for delivery and then being returned to depot as the ‘customer had refused delivery’. I was surprised as I had no contact with any delivery person.
I contacted Amazon who then assured me that the package would be delivered by no later than 1pm the following day. Waited until around 4pm and still no package. Again, contacted Amazon customer service and they had been told by HDNL that ‘customer refused delivery’ a second time.
Was beginning to think I was losing my mind but instead it was just down to HDNL being a pathetic, untrustworthy, useless company. How they still manage to operate is beyond belief.
Needless to say I have since cancelled my order and purchasing from another company who don’t use HDNL.

I agree with all the criticisms of this company.
It is now 8.40 pm. I have been waiting in all day for a £200 TV, bought from Dixons, to be delivered by HDNL, under its other name of Yodel. I didn’t mind waiting for a reasonable time, since delivery was free, but began to get edgy by about 5pm. I didn’t know the company was HDNL, so all I could do was go on the Yodel site and use their email – no phone number except a central 10p-a-minute one. Using the tracking number, I read that the package was “out for delivery”; then, at about 7.30, that it was “with courier for delivery”. The only response to my email was a “no-reply” (of course) message saying they had received it.
At 5.20, I rang Dixons to express my concern, and their helpful rep did ring Yodel – so there must be a number. They told him exactly what the website told me: that it was out for delivery, and that their delivery hours were “until 8pm”. That comforted me a little, but not now. The info on the website must be a huge mistake or a lie – there is no other explanation. My conclusion, and my advice: when you buy something, find out who the carrier will be; if it’s HDNL/Yodel, buy it somewhere else. If it costs more, that will be money well spent. Do NOT buy anything that has to be delivered by this company.

An update on what this company is. I rang them this morning (Wed 21/12/11) to ask about the package. Apparently, they give parcels to ordinary householders who want to earn a bit of pin money, and most of them only deliver in the evening, after they’ve finished work. They say it’s a good system, because most people are out during the day. I said, “Maybe not. For example, I’m retired – have you heard of retired people?” Yes, they had – but presumably they just don’t care. And anyway, it WASN’T delivered in the evening. So it’s a rotten system.
They gave me the tel number of the person who would deliver – name of Kelly in Faversham – and I caught her just as she was leaving for work. No, she wouldn’t deliver on her way to work, no, I couldn’t have her address so I could pick it up myself, and no, she wouldn’t take it to work so she could deliver it on the way home. The best she can do is bring it out at 7 tonight, and she sounded reluctant to do that.
She was entirely unconcerned about my problem – she said the parcel had been “scanned” as not necessary for delivery yesterday – the day that Dixon’s had promised, in good faith. Let me make it plain I am in no way criticising Dixon’s – they have acted in good faith throughout and have done their best to help. When I told one of their people about the amateur system Yodel uses, he was astonished – no one had told him this before. According to him, Yodel promised the parcel would be taken out on a regular van with a regular, full-time driver. So they lied to Dixon’s – do you think they would hesitate to lie to you?
So if you know that anything you buy will be delivered by Yodel, just be aware that you will be at the mercy of someone earning pin money and fitting in your delivery around his/her work, shopping and housework. If you still use them after that, you have only yourself to blame.
Oh, and by the way, I gave Yodel one star in my original comment only because you can’t post without choosing a rating. In fact, they don’t deserve any stars at all.
Did not recieve my parcel. Waited ten minutes to get through to customer services who initially said they couldn’t find my order and I had to go back to my supplier? Eventually I was told that my order had been delivered and a card left which it wasn’t( i know trhis because I was in all day and at the time they stated it was delivered). The customer services said they could not give me the number of the depot it was being held at only the address so I had to search the net and find the number myself. I queried this with the lady at the depot who said quite frankly that their number is not given out and not on their card anywhere! My parcel is supposedly due to arrive tomorrow, I will rewrite a review if they are true to their word!
