Chequers Hair and Beauty

I wanted to have my nails painted with bio-sculpture gel for my wedding. Chequers were the only salon in London who were willing to order the particular colour I had chosen at short notice. While arranging the appointment, they were very helpful, understanding and professional.

I had doubts during the application of the gel. The stylist didn't project confidence or experience, and found it necessary to consult the manageress several times. The final result wasn't great; there was a perceptible raggedness around the area of my cuticles, but I had to leave the country two days afterwards, so there was no time to arrange an appointment to correct it.

During the next week the ragged area around my cuticles begun to peel off, and I was very conscious of this during the signing of the register during my marriage ceremony. During the first week of my honeymoon, the peeling become progressively worse until some nails could simply be pulled away.

The bio-sculpture nails are advertised as presenting a perfect finish for between two and three weeks, and should only be removed by a specialist. My wedding day was on the 8th day after the application.

I wrote to Chequers when I returned, enclosing photographs of my nails, and they refunded me for the cost of the treatment. However, their letter stated that it was very unlikely for the nails to have peeled in this way without a deliberate action on my part. This ignorant insinuation added insult to injury.
