Location, location! Not in the dreaded Ramblas, but close enough to walk and take a peek, this fine hotel is well situated for most of the tourist sights: the Gaudi Houses and the Sagrada Familia, the Passeig de Gracia, the Old Town and The Port. The spacious rooms are beautifully fitted and supplied with wonderful toilet products. There is a swimming pool and terrace on the roof, with great views across the city. The breakfast could be made to last half a day, with extended opening hours and every type of food imaginable, including cava if you want a Buck’s Fizz for brekky. Another great advantage is that the Calderon is two steps away from what I believe to be one of Barca’s best Tapas Bars - the Ciudad Condal Cervecería; even if you don’t stay at the (pricey) Calderon, you simply must eat at the Ciudad Condal!
