The Cricketers

The Cricketers, Duncton is a lovely country pub offering a warm welcome and truly excellent, value for money food (huge choice as well!). The interior is snug and cozy in the winter and outside there is an extensive garden to enjoy in the better weather. Having visited the pub on several occasions previously, our daughter and her new husband chose the Cricketers to hold their wedding reception in May this year. The venue proved an excellent choice! Ruth and all the staff were extremely helpful and went out of their way to assist us in creating a tailor made event to suit our requirements. We had the use of a good sized function room which we had a free hand in decorating using a local venue decorator, Jenni from All Blewn Up (based in Slinfold, Sussex) – who did a brilliant job (allblewnup.com) and we were able to hire a disco which created a true party atmosphere. The weather was warm and dry and we were able to make use of the lovely gardens which was a real bonus! The pub offered us various options for catering and on the evening provided a delicious hog roast, with all the trimmings, which was a huge success We certainly had an evening to remember and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Cricketers as the perfect venue for parties and receptions – or just pop in for drink or a meal – you won’t be disappointed! Nestling in the South Downs the Cricketers serves a great selection of beer and wine accompanied by excellent food. In the summer the large garden at the rear has plenty of well spaced out tables. In the winter a roaring log fire burns in the hearth. The staff are very friendly making this an excellent choice for families traveling to the coast or staying in one of the many beautiful cottages nearby.
