It's a very big dam and took a long time to make. Pretty average as a land-mark.

One of the best places to visit when you come to Las Vegas. Little bit of a ride out side of town but its worth it. lots of movies have been made here and many more to come.

We flew over the Hoover the dam.The amount of work that went into it was phenonemal. No longer the biggest dam in the States, it still takes your breath away.

I had heard of the dam and was surprised at the great size of it when we drove over it. You have to see it to realise how big it is.

This is an amazing place and only half an hours drive from Vegas. We took the tour which gave an indepth history of the dam which was fascinating. The sheer size of the dam in incredible. It supplies Nevada, Arizona and some of California with water. There is free parking around and wasn’t that busy when we went in summer. It does get hot though so be prepared!

An amazing sight to see. We drove over it, but on advice from friends we would now get a helicopter ride to appricate it better. The tour was informative but probably not everyone’s cup of tea.

A true wonder of man’s persistence and perserverance I was absolutly astounded by the Hoover Dam. Driving over it just isn’t enough, you have to park up and take the tour to fully appreciate it. I can’t recommend enough

Was at the Hoover Dam June 6th, 2007. I found it interesting and the tour was somewhat informational. Taking the tour is the only way to be able to go down inside. And though there is not much to see down there is is neat just to be able to say your been there. I enjoyed the walk across the Dam best.
There is free parking around the dam too but you are going to walk a long ways to get to it, if there are any open, campers seem to like to pull in there and take 4 spots each.
FYI - There is a Look-out on the Nevada side of the Dam (maybe 1/2 mile from the Dam) of Lake Mead. I thought that was prettier and more interesting then the Dam.

I didn’t go on the tour inside the dam, we parked in the multi storey car park on the Nevada side and walked over the top. This dam is huge!, it’s crazy the amount of cars that go over it- when I visited in April I saw the construction work on the other route over the river, so high up! It was a really nice day out- About half an hour in a car from the strip, it does get very warm and ther’s little shade. Have fun being in 2 time zones at once (Nevada/Arizona) in the flooded part of the dam you can see massive fish swimming, and on the rocks little lizards. The statues and plaques at the dam are very moving, some great photo opportunites. There is a restaurant/shop/toilets at the dam.

Amazing to think that this was manmade! The visitor centre is great and very informative, the tour starts with a short video then you are take down in a lift inside the dam to see the generators etc, can be slightly claustraphobic especially when you feel drops of water land on you!
