If you’ve ever wandered around Shoreditch and surrounding areas, you may have noticed shop shutters painted with single letters. These are the work of Eine. For anyone who doesn’t know, Eine is German for one, and while Eine is apparently not German, he is certainly single minded. More recently he’s moved on from single letters to doing whole single words on the entire side of buildings. Sad to say I missed getting a picture of my favourite: a whole side of building, black white and grey letters, spelling out ‘vandalism’. That one made me laugh, but has now been painted over. However in the pictures you’ll find several examples of his work, including my current favourite: ‘Scary’, under a dark bridge. The map pointer is on the location of that work. You can also see a strait forward, huge and rather ugly Eine tag high up on a building near the bottom of Kingsland Road.
For obvious reasons, you are best looking for Eine’s work when the shops are closed…
