A coolio place the upstars bar is birght and trendy with lots of cool artwork on the walls and relaxing chairs to chill out on. Went there on a sat night and the bouncers were good about keeping out groups of lager louts and increasing the hot female/to male ratio. Staff were also friendly and responsive but the cocktails is what makes this place stand out. Would go again for sure.

Nice bar - with a good selection of some innovative cocktails, and relaxing surroundings. The upstairs section is a pretty large bar area, with lots of space, and comfortable seating to relax in.

The staff are really friendly, and really do seem to be having a good time, which gives the place a good feeling. I'd have to agree with where's my soup that the waitresses were a great reason for visiting!

Downstairs you'll find the toilets, along with a small club room - where you can dance the night away to the spinning decks of the DJ.

Well worth a visit - and much better than the really noisy sole-less pub on the corner.

Review of Playtime from 22 September 2010

I went here on Saturday night for a friend's birthday party. Great cocktails from friendly bar staff and very pretty waitresses. They were £4 before 9pm but i didn't get there in time and i was warned by my friend, silly me!. They had a charity party in the club downstairs with awesome live music. Ended dancing all night to the dj's after this, somewhat worse for wear from the cocktails.

(updated on 18 June 2010 )

Formerly the bar known as OQO, the Playtime bar is shoehorned between the Slug and Lettuce and Browns on Islington Green.
It's a little less posh than its predecessor, with much cheaper drinks - hooray!
Ground level still has a large bar running the left-hand side of the room and seating areas to the right and rear of this. Cool artwork is rotated on display. At the rear are stairs down to a basement bar and club where a live DJ plays until 2am.
Really liked the music on a Saturday, a bit of old-school and funk, while the drinks were quite cheap - £3.50 for a glass of house wine.
Lots of couches and furniture downstairs made it feel like we were partying in someone's living room. Oh and the bar lights up from underneath.
Definitely worth a look for a more laid-back and less posey place on upper street than Keston or Ladybird.
