1 review of Millgate Folk Museum in English
The warehouses and mills along Millgate in Newark are by the river. So much to see and such nice walks. Bars, food (one place in an old abbatoir) are all part of the attraction. In amongst this is the folk museum housed in a warehouse.
A former oil seed mill built in 1870 it is in this conservation area.
The museum displays are spread over several floors, accessed only by stairs so not good for disabled access. There is a cafe on the ground floor serving light refreshments, with a view of boats passing on the river and a little gift shop.
The whole area can make for arelaxing day out with the museum as a main attraction.
Archaeology,Costume, Natural History, Art, Photographs, Social History, Civil War and Military items are on display and they have regular events including childrens workshops.
Free admission.
