Review of Lake District Coast Aquarium from 12 July 2012
went to the lake district aquarium on Tues with my boyfriend and i agree to the comment below about it not looking much from the front the view of the docks was nice to see with the sun shining so peacefull ahhhh! .......... and i `m back lol! when i opened the doors we were pleasantly suprised it was bigger than it looks with a well stocked gift shop and cafe with lovely fish and chips which always amuses me as to be honest isnt that a bit wrong to be eating fish in a aquarium?any way back to the review the aquarium  is really informative and pleasing to the eye packed with different fish and other sealife in there natural look habitats there very well cared for and happily swimming round.the interactive rock pool was fun for kids and adults alike and the feeding tank where you could pet the rays and watch the other sealife being fed the only problem i had was with the stupid people who cant read signs in big writing that says do not touch the other sealife e.g. sharks just the rays and what do i see 3 bloody idiots petting the sharks i mean come on the writing was in front of there eyes in big black block capitals and also the other sign saying please dont use flash photography and what are they doing suprise suprise flash flash flash arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! rant over sorry about that just makes me so mad when people don`t follow the rules their there for a reason like. The pool was very relaxing though hearing the water and the sounds and watching the fish swim past i really enjoyed my time here and will definately be back :).Highly recommend going £7.95  per adult and worth the money.

Review of Lake District Coast Aquarium from 25 November 2008

I agree with review above - from the outside it looks v small and unprepossessing so it’s an amazing surprise just how much stuff is packed in - lots of big fish, lobsters, eels and all sorts. The displays, tanks and information are all really well thought out, interesting and accessible (in fact much better than some much bigger aquariums I’ve been to where the labels sometimes don’t even match what’s in the tank…) plus the staff are happy to talk if you’ve got questions as you’re going round - I think it could easily take up half a day and is definitely a good reason to go out to the coast. Entry fee of about £6 will be money well spent.

Review of Lake District Coast Aquarium from 4 June 2008

Situated in what appeared to me to be the deserted old fishing town of Maryport (I swear we did not see a soul on the streets as we drove down to the attraction!) this is quite a small family attraction which kept a group of twenty-somethings entertained for about an hour and a half. Not bad going for the fairly inexpensive entry fee.

I do like aquaria, and this one proved to be great fun with the staff very friendly, knowledgeable and entertaining and the exhibits very accessible to adults and the little people (me and children).

I loved the ray pool, where feedings, talks and demonstrations are held regularly, and the fish are really friendly and love to be stroked.

The cafe was a pleasant enough experience, and good value, though the menu was nothing remarkable, however checking out their website, they now serve thai food…randomly!
