Compliment Omid (06-06-2008) •••••
I don’t typically like pickles, but the garlicky spear of goodness at Moishe’s rocks. I’m not big on potato salad, but I relished every bite of the flavorful chunks of potato served up here.
But I go to a deli for sandwiches, and this is where this joint comes up short. Sure, the “State and Lake” is better than most sandwich shops’ attempts at a hot pastrami and corned beef on rye, but the crumbly bread leaves a trail of rye everywhere, not to mention a lot to be desired. The meat is tasty but incredibly greasy, making you wonder if it was heated up in a deep fryer. I’ve had a side of bacon with less fat than this sandwich.
Despite that, the overall impression was marginally good enough for me to consider coming back, until I think back at the bill. $10+ for what I got is simply not worth it.
