It’s true to say that it’s not easy to find an excellent Mexican restaurant in London, and this is no exception.
The name, Desperados (Desperate), should have been a give away really. This Tex-Mex restaurant is a complete shamble. For starters the menu is so long one wonders how they can cook all these dishes on the spot, alarm bells are ringing already. We order a margarita, and what we are given instead is a disgusting lemonade concotion that I very much doubt has ever made friends with tequila. The food is bland and tastes prepackaged. The atmosphere is just over the top. The actual staff are so loud it’s impossible to hear one’s conversation. The waiters break into an impromptu song as it’s somebody’s birthday. The idea is nice, if overdone, but the noise is such that it doesn’t look like anybody, including the birthday girl, is enjoying the sonic “treat”.
Bad food, bad drinks and an unpleasant ambience, avoid at all costs.

Always looked a bit to tacky from the outside, but very surprised by the quality of food. Nothing unusual, but tasty and good value. I’d stick to the classics (nachos/burritos/enchiladas) and away from the grill and burger nonscense. The beef they use in a few disches is particularly good. staff pretty odd

This place is great, I had my birthday at Desperados a couple of years ago, and a love affair began! The servings are generous, there’s a wide range of cocktails and the atmosphere is really good fun. The food is your classic tex-mex, everything is tasty and the staff are always keen to make sure you have a good time. I would definitely recommend it.
