I used National for a replacement vehicle when mine was damaged in an accident. The rental was organised by, and charged to, my insurance company so I was only expecting basic service. My experience of car rental companies to date had been so so at best.

I was stunned that they called me within about 5 minutes of my insurance company approving the rental to me over the phone. They offered to collect me from my house as they knew that my vehicle was not roadworthy and when I got there, they offered me a choice of vehicles. They told me that a set rental had been agreed with my insurance company but that they would liaise with the vehicle repairers and extend my rental as necessary.

When I spoke to them on the phone and when they showed me round the vehicle they were incredibly thorough and professional.

All car rental companies should be like this.
