I also had a groupon voucher and did not have a good experience. No consultation time at all. Justin without picture, explanation or being sure what he wanted to do cut my hair. It was the quickest haircut ever, and an even quicker blow drying job. Seemed he was eager to get it over and done with. Maybe he is nice to full paying clients, as some of the above reviews seem to suggest, but this really defeats the purpose for them to go on groupon.
I did the promotion to find a new hairdresser I could trust and go to in the future – would never set my foot in this place again, I did not get the sense of professional and friendly service.
I had a Groupon voucher with this hairdresser and I am HUGELY disappointed with my end result. To start with I had emailed my preferred dates to them before Christmas, and never receieved a response. I eventually had to go down to the place myself to book an appointment. They were friendly, and quick to book an appointment for that very weekend (Though I noticed hardly anyone was even booked in to begin with.) and their excuse for not replying to my preferred dates was that they didn’t check emails..
I was booked in with a redhead called Kate (whom I’d read about before from other reviews and this made me nervous) she was friendly and polite, however, as soon as I showed her a picture of the short style I wanted, she began to make excuses and ended up convincing me to have it cut only to shoulder length. I told her I wanted a drastic change of style as this was my first visit to a proper hairdressers. All she did was give my hair a trim (very badly) and cut it in the exact style it was already in. She claimed she had given my layers, however I have yet to find them. She has completely butchered my hair, and I am only thankful that I didn’t persist and have her cut my hair in the short style I originally wanted, so I can at least now go to a PROFESSIONAL and have them cut my hair properly! I absolutely DO NOT recommend 53AM, they are unprofessional, and seem to be unqualified as hairdressers aswell!
I originally had an appointment for yesterday, but got the days mixed up and thought it was today. But the 53AM was very accommodating, they fitted me in within half hour of me being there, so didnt have to wait long, had enough time to get a coffee. The staff was really friendly. The hair wash/condition//massage was so good. Really relaxing, one of the best I’ve had. The hairdresser Justin, one of the co-owners gave me a great cut and was pleasant. It was a clean and tidy place. Totally recommend it!
I got a voucher from Groupon for hair wash, haircut, blowdry and hair treatment.. I got just the haircut and blowdry and now I have a chunk of my hair cut at the back.. I explained very often that I wanted my hair layered and and my hair dresser Kate explain that on long hair it can’t be done.. she is a mute beginner that probably knows one haircut and tried to do this to me.. I refused so now I have the same hair style I had the moment I walked in, but with a chunk cut off at my back!!! I’m furious with them as my hair looks very bad now!!
Bought a voucher on Groupon.
Took 2 months to book.
Kept me waiting for 25 minutes.
Didnt ask how i’d like my hair blow dried.
Didnt show me the back of my hair when finished, didnt ask me if i was happy.
Didnt give my hair a treatment – which was part of the offer.
Surely the point of running a promotion is get people in the door , give them a positive experience and get repeat business /referrals.
Treating them in a 2nd class fashion – defeats the purpose.
The cut was good but the experience was bad.
I wouldnt recommend them.

Justin at 53 AM is terrific. He’s intuitive and thoughtful. On minimal instruction he gave my medium length hair just what I wanted.
He is up to date with style and I am sure he could provide any look desired. I trusted him completely. His cuts are well balanced and precise. My cut grew out keeping its style, for me that’s the mark of a good cut.
