The Barley Mow was originally a farmer's pub and its village pub atmosphere still remains. In those days, the landlord must have been short of funds as part of the bar was converted into a licensed pawnbrokers. The two small cubicles to the side of the bar which were used as the pawnbrokers' shop are the remaining evidence of this. Today, the Barley Mow has Sky TV an can cater for private parties of up to 80 guests (on Saturdays only) upon request.

Sad to say, that this pub closed down last year.
It was pretty (Grade II listed) but not great.
Limited selection of ale and Sky TV was about it for facilities. No food though and some of the staff weren’t terrific to be honest.
As the description above details, it’s main draw was that it had tiny little booths on one side of the bar which I was told were used by pawnbrokers among other nefarious activities.
Gone but not forgotten.
