Melia Grand Hermitage Hotel, Varna

Stayed in this hotel June 08. On arrival the hotel looks very impressive - really nice decor and stylish reception/ bar area. Rooms are also very spacious with lovely bathrooms.

I would also recommend the use of the spa - lots of treatments that are reasonably priced and very relaxing.

Right in the centre of Golden Sands so excellent location near to the beach.

However, the downside of this hotel is that it tries to cater for too many people. There are over 700 rooms! We were staying at a time when the hotel wasn’t full but the breakfast time was chaotic to say the least. Tables weren’t cleaned properly or quickly and you were left trying to hunt for a table.

The high volume of guests also caused difficulties with cleaning/ servicing of rooms (ours wasn’t cleaned until 6pm on a couple of occasions which was a little inconvenient) and the reception area was often crowded with people.

Nice enough to stay here for a week but I wouldn’t recommend it to other people… due to points stated above. I can’t imagine how busy it gets in the height of summer as the facilities/ staff can’t cope with the amount of guests it holds.
