Garfunkel's Restaurant

We had a really good breakfast last September, everything very fresh and served hot with a very smiley waiter. Good service. We are travelling very early on a 6.05am flight in May check -in and  we are looking forward to visiting Garfunkel's again! We will be on your doorstep at 4.00 am.

Was really disappointed with the fish and chips I ordered. Was looking forward to eating it as well. When the plate arrived, the chips were limp and cold. The fish was coated in breadcrumbs so I assummed it must have been shop bought (most likely Tesco quality) and oven cooked as opposed to the beer battered cod advertised and expected for this price. Very very disappointed for twelve pounds. I also ordered an iced coffee as opposed to my usual hot drink and it was in a midget glass for three pounds. It was not even cold, hardly an iced coffee.

So one ordered a hot meal and was served a cold one, a cold drink and was given a warm one. For fifteen pounds I really expected better.  I hope other readers make the right choice for their meals. The thing is, these companies probably think they can get away with it because tourirsts dine once then head home. What ashame people do not take pride in the food they serve. Well dear Garfunkel, I shall not dine here again and I fly often so it is a loss to your business.

Have eaten here twice in 6 weeks on 2 business trips, not my choice was the choice of a supplier who paid on both occasions – had sausage and mash the first time – the skin on the sausage was so thick I had difficulty cutting it and the quality of sausage wasn’t good, the mash was chewy (how is this possible) and the gravy was tasteless. The second occasion I had the chicken ceaser salad, the salad was OK but the chicken was like jerky it was so dry. on the plus side the service was good and quick despite being very busy, but generally the food is not good, its just freeze dried tasteless mass produced stuff heated up using microwaves from what i could tell. Wouldn’t eat here if I was paying!

Fantastic service, I fly every few weeks for business and always have a great time, this is always a very busy place i don’t know how they do it? Has to be my favourite place in the airport the staff are always great even though it is so busy the English Manager is very funny and remembers me every time i visit even though they must see thousands of people a week. I definately recommend…

On my last travels I had lunch at Garfunkel’s with my family,the restaurant was very busy,but had a very good atmosphere,as soon as we sat down we were asked if we wanted drinks to start with,i was very impressed with how quick he had our drinks and food delivered,and the quality was very good! Definitely a good start to our holiday,will definitely go back.

This is genuinely the worst service I’ve ever had! A colleague and I were heading back from London to Edinburgh, around 4pm. We decided to get a glass of wine and unfortunately the bar wasn’t there so we went to Garfunkels. The waiter asked if it was dinner for two, we replied “just drinks”. He told us to sit at the bar area, which was fine, but then the girl behind the bar barked at us that we couldn’t sit there. Confused, we explained that the waiter had told us to. But she said, “no” and we had to sit in the restaurant.

After a few minutes wait, he brought us the wine menu. I decided on a large glass of chenin blanc whilst colleague decided on a small glass of merlot (she had her car on the other side.)

He came and took our order, then went away for what felt like ages. I honestly think I could have run downstairs and bought a new bottle of wine, opened it, and poured it before our two glasses arrived.

Due to the slow service we’d had so far, we now had 20 mins until our gate closed. We asked him for the bill so that we could just run once our vino was finished. The bill arrived, and it was in the region of £20- because he’d charged my colleague for a BOTTLE of merlot instead of a glass!

When we asked him to correct it he didin’t seem too happy. Needless to say we didn’t leave a tip.

Really disappointing overall.

We were seated immediately by a waiter and ordered steak ciabatta and spaghetti bolognese, and 2 glasses of red wine.

When steak ciabatta arrived it consisting for 4 tiny strips of steak (less than half a steak), half a tomato and half an onion. We called over the waiter and asked for more meat, as we felt this didn’t constitute a steak sandwich. He agreed saying he was surprised at the portion and took it away immediately. Returned a few minutes later, apologising that the chef had told him that that was the portion size that they served and if we weren’t happy we could order something else.

The spaghetti bolognese that we had been served was nice, so we ordered another portion. It arrived less than 5 minutes later but all it consisted of was some pasta and tomato sauce – no meat at all and completey different to the first one we ordered.

For what we recieved it was extremely disappointing and quite expensive.

Try Spinach salad plus chicken - very nice.

Let's face it, you don't get too much choice at airport terminals and we were there at 6.00am so were looking for breakfast.

When we arrived at Garfunkels, we were seated immediately. The waiter came and took our order less than 5 minutes later and our drinks were with us within 2 minutes. Approximately 5 minutes later, we had piping hot breakfasts in front of us. Everything was cooked perfectly.

The service was excellent and the food was good. Just what you need to perk you up before a long flight.
