The Old Bank Steak & Ribs Restaurant

A good steak house, but felt it lack a little in ambiance. I enjoyed my meal though as did my bf and I think we would eat here again.

This place is really friendly and welcoming. Friend had a pram with her and they went out of their way to accommodate space next to the table...the lovely manager even gave the baby a loyalty card with 1st stamp as she was so newborn! Good atmosphere - can get busy so book ahead. Recommend the hot wings, ribs and burgers. They also do take out (just phone and collect half hour later). 

This place is great... if you like your ribs cold and your service poor. Congealed fat and lack of flavour. There are much better places to eat in Brighton

ate at Hove old Bank 4th April. Realise you just opened and are still getting it together, but the deficiencies were too significant. Service was friendly but slow. Specifically came in to have a burger, which sounded very tempting (among other things, described as being served with onion rings), as I specifically wanted to avoid potatoes and your side dishes sounds great – I was dying for the French beans. Told on ordering that you don’t do the sides any more (what after only 10 days?) and that you only did potato sides. ordered medium rare, but there was no pink. Room temperature, which had only barely melted the pricey cheese and topped with an ice cold slice of tomato, so each bite felt like an ice cube was lodged in the burger. But the icing was that I had picked up the new Source magazine to read during my meal and was subjected to the best burger in Brighton article with 10 finalists that all sounded better and were all at least £3 cheaper, too.

Though not really a steak person, I do like a good burger, and don’t we get them here. I was a little reticent about going here with my son but now, very glad I did. Very impressed with great selection of starters available…especially the Pan-fried squid…..followed by the homemade 6oz burger. Well worth the visit.

Every time we eat here we are always very impressed. The service is friendly and efficient and the food consistantly good. The sunday roast is guarenteed to fill anyones stomach!.

Have been to the Old Bank several times now and am always blown away by the standard of food, service and interior provided. The staff are exceptionally friendly and the food is second to none. My steak is always cooked as specified and I couldn’t endorse this place any more. I became a fan on Facebook and was invited to try out their new breakfast menu on the house! Had a 5o’z with eggs and hash browns, it was gorgeous! Definitely go back for breakfast again. We usually go for dinner once or twice a month!

We were a group of four who went on a Monday evening for the eat-as-much-as-you-can Ribs night. Thankfully we had booked as the place was packed. Our waiter, Ben (who was rushed off his feet) was great, very attentive, un-harried, friendly and efficient.

The food was very tasty and we got through about three whole racks each plus a side dish (I had great onion rings) then we somehow managed to finish the meal off with a Sundae each – and these were not small.

We enjoyed a superb bottle of red from Ribera del Duero (in fact 2 bottles). The whole meal came to £115.00 for four of us and we felt we had had exceptional value for money due to the quality of the all round experience. Roger and King are now off to KL, but Krish and I will return (soon).

We visited The Old Bank last night as part of an office night out. Being a Friday evening it was busy, but not too loud. The staff were attentive and always on hand to top up drinks and check that everything was just right, which it was.

The food itself was well cooked with the sauces adding some real zing to some dishes. The Hot Buffalo Wings especially were certainly that. The drinks selection is more than ample with plenty of choice.

All it is a great little restaurant and certainly one I will be going back to.

I went to The Old Bank with my better half (a vegetarian) and another couple and all of us left having had a wonderful dining experience. Great food, great wine (!) and good atmosphere (decor and staff).

It's rare that I venture out for a meal in town but the thought of a fancy free steak and ribs restaurant made me leave the comfort of take away heaven and venture into Kemptown.

And to be honest, I was very impressed that I could get a fantastic meal and several bottles of wine for not much more than a take away.

I like this place and will be taking people again, including my better half who also enjoyed the experience.

Everyone has an opinion, which is why Qype works, in my opinion this is a great restaurant and well worth visiting.

Horrible service,
First time we went, we wanted the rib feast (eat as much ribs as you like) but after we decided what we were gonna have, they say they didn't have any ribs and it was only six and the feast started at five. So because we wanted mainly to try the ribs we were gonna leave and the manager told us that we could have a free meal next time we go and gave us his card and told us to call him. Next time we were gonna go, we phoned him but he wasn't in, they took our name and phone number but didn't call us so we went to the restaurant and they said the manager didn't remember anything about a free meal and that he had tried to call us and there was something wrong with number (that wasn't true) and the manager didn't even dare to talk to us. So we left without dinning and feeling they were lying.

AMAZING WINGS! The best in Brighton! There is a massive open terrace at the back for eating outside...which compliments the waffle icecream pud a treat

I've been a few times now and always start with the spicy chicken wings (sometimes the spice levels vary so watch out!). For mains i'll either go for ribs or for stake but if i'm feeling greedy i'll choose the the ribs and stake platter from their combo menu. The menu is well priced, especially the ribs and burgers, so you can keep it relatively cheap as long as you don't over do it on the wine and the big steaks but it depends on your budget!

The atmosphere is livelier than other restaurants in the area so definately worth a visit.

Went for meal after the Brighton Marathon. The restaurant was really busy but they made space for us. We were sat in a really comfy booth by the window. The staff were fantastic from start to finish, very helpful. Food was delicious, we went for steak and ribs and they could not have not been better cooked. The kids enjoyed both their chicken and chips and smelly belly ice cream. All in all an excellent meal with great service.

Total nightmare meal from start to finish. One of our kids ordered scampi. 30 minutes later (!) told had none. So ordered burger. None of them either..
Ok, so my food comes and I ordered steak as it was a steak house. Our friend ordered same but mine was covered in a sauce. His sauce was in a side pot. I can't stand sauce on a good steak! So I ask the manager, how come I have sauce on mine? He just whipped it away and said he'd order another. No apology.
This was a nightmare cos my food ended up coming after everyone else had finished theirs. And the butter from my jacket potato turned to liquid where it had been sitting on a hot stand.
Meanwhile my wife was not happy, the coleslaw came in the world's smallest pot, I mean TINY teeny portion.
We ordered dessert for the kids. 20 minutes later - no vanilla ice cream. Ok so we re-order again. It comes in a egg cup. I am not joking. An EGG cup of ice cream...
The bill came which was wrong in 3 places, overcharged. I was also charged for my steak which I thought was wrong but I just left it. I did ask to have the 'optional' service charge removed though. Still no apology even at that point.
Shambles. Shocking.

Rather tasty and good value, when you ask for Rare it is. Not the best steak in the world and really slow waiters. However the buffalo wings are rather nice. Was rather quite when we were in on a sunday night and the piano player was very loud which didn't help. All in all pretty good though.

Wasn't blown away I'm afraid. Was left waiting at the door for what seemed like an age. The staff were friendly once seated though. The food was just average for the price - we ordered steaks. Will look to try other places first before going back.
