Parc de thoiry

The park of Thoiry streches on 150 hectares and is composed of a castle, listed botanical gardens and a labyrinth, but it is mostly known for its zoo and its African nature reserve. You go through the zoo by walk and through the African nature reserve by car. About the zoological garden? It is a real discovery of animal wildlife with 130 species and 1000 animals. Pedagogy and games are alternated in order to raise awareness amoung young and old people regarding the species conservation. Entrance tickets for the Thoiry are presented as packages and can be purchased either at the zoo or at the entrance of the African nature reserve -depending on where your tour starts. Count 3 to 4 hours to visit the zoo, the African nature reserve and some of the gardens. All new in 2007: you can play in the world’s largest interactive labyrinth. You can also visit the salons of the family castle accompanied by a guide dressed in period costume.
The African nature reserve is gorgeous but keep in mind that you may pass a bear which will wink at you and then keep on moving.
