Went there to watch the football the other day really nice and friendly staff. There was a really good atmosphere in there even with the result LoL ;) was a good day out.
Cool space. Huge too. I'd return here. I spent the night of US Election Day there and was impressed with the place:

Of course, being that Gramaphone was packed to the rafters (with everyone's eyes glued to the Beeb), my experience was far from ordinary.

One of Gramaphone’s most notable achievements is the monthly lesbian night 'WISH’. The resident DJ is Kath Harding, playing deep house and techno. The music on this night is simply smashing! Kath really knows how to work a crowd, but I must admit that at times there’s a bit too much house and not enough techno. Kath says “house is the future”.
The crowd are sound and friendly enough, and upstairs the mood is more chilled with a background of poppy tunes.
Downside: It’s expensive. £10 entry after 10pm and certainly never a whiff of a drinks promotion, so pack your wallet.

gramophone is a lovely place to pop in either in the evenings or at nights during the weekend.
there is the rumour that says that the owner tends to hire people coming for prison or homeless, which is really cool of his, also beacuse the staff there s pretty nice.
the decor is very appealing, either upstairs as downstairs.
downstairs they do once a month the minimal carnival, which attracts a very loyal crowd with an outstanding minimal played by the residents and guests from time to time.
the place is small and doesn't sound excellent, but still is a lot of fun. drinks are reasonably priced .
it does outperform the infamous 54 that lies next to it, so, if in doubt give it a try to the gramophone
