Compliment Templar (21-06-2008) •••••

I rather loved this place and it is in a beautiful setting. Wooden rural buildings.

It is a crafts and antique mall and features over 25,000 square feet of shopping area with over 300 dealers. These are individual booths. The artist, craftsman or dealer rents a space and puts in their work. It is unmanned. You take your purchase to a desk, or go and ask for it, and pay.

The work here is mostly American Folk arts and crafts and is kind of naieve but often cute.
I bought a lovely little, short print run, print. Not copied but printed in inks. It was numbered and depicted trees and log cabins in snow. Very pretty and well done. Framed it cost me about $10 if that.
I also bought a hand painted wooden cat plaque in the shape of a cat. It had hooks on it for keys etc. About a foot long and was about £7.

The artists are local and sometimes International.
The antiques are mainly American but some quirky and interesting things can be had at reasonable prices.

There is also a household section. ie home decor.

Good for a couple of hours browsing.

Nearby they sell Great donuts :0)
