Yes, at this auction room you can pick up a bargain or two, but sellers be very careful. Lots of items go very cheap here. If you are not, you will be finding yourself with a bill from them for selling your goods and getting nothing in return.
A great Saturday out and you could pick up a bargain in the process. Easy to deal with staff and good bidding card system, you can even leave bids the day before so you don’t even have to attend. Always wonderfully diverse lots up for offer from snatch back tvs to antiques, medals, cds, furniture etc you name it they’ll auction it. they also do valuations, the aucioneer is friendly funny and a bit of a comedian, has been featured on tv in one of those antique shows and it’s not unusual to turn up and find some tv show being filmed there. Local parking hard but not impossible.

A world away from the high-profile sales of Christies and Sothebys, Greenwich Auctions offers a fascinating mixture of items. As well as the more obvious collectables, paintings and furniture from several centuries, all sorts of strange items turn up from time to time: antique hats, war souvenirs, old signs.
Auctions are held on Saturdays at 11am. Some lots are featured on the website in advance, but nothing beats actually going and having a wander round the large auction room: choose between Friday evenings (ideal for browsing with a glass of wine in hand) or Saturday mornings (for a brisker look around before the bidding starts). Staff are friendly and helpful, and it’s hard to beat an auction for excitement.
A couple of caveats. The concrete-floored building can be rather cold in winter, so wear warm clothes (especially socks!). The seats can be pretty hard, too. However, those minor discomforts are worth suffering for the chance to come across something really interesting - and perhaps at a bargain price.
