This shop houses the most rude wine seller I have ever encounetred. The owners [Daniel] manner is that of a man who has something better to do to someone else rather than serve you. He is only interested in his friends, and friends wines, and will up sell at every opportunity. Oh and did I mention he is a bit of a woman hater? Yes, i had a bad experiance here - I was patronised and left the shop shaken and without a sale - my friends came off worse and a dreadfully over priced tasting that was a “we love Daniel fan club” meeting - that left their glasses empty for most of the evening and feeling very ripped off. Yes they complained, no, he wasn’t interested, saying that if they didn’t like it they could go elsewhere!

This little shop is everything a local wine merchant should be. First, there is a great selection of wines across all price ranges and including lots of unusual selections (as well as good choices of sherries and beers). Each wine has information to help you choose, so browsing is a pleasure. If you want advice, the staff are really friendly and knowledgeable: I’ve always been really pleased by their recommendations.

Second, there are regular tastings and events (most on a Thursday - a pity this clashes with my evening class…). I took a six-week wine course here which was excellent value for money; I learned a great deal and also found the classes sociable and relaxed.

Finally, the surroundings are really attractive, far from the rather sterile shelves of your local Threshers. This shop offers wine buying as it should be!
