All the other people are right about their terrible experiences with Belmont Thornton.
Don't usually reply to emails or return phone calls. I even tried contacting the manager Adam Beamish by email and phone at least 10 times and he never replied to me. They think they are too important to deal with customers.
These people are just money-grabbers. Avoid Belmont Thornton!

I have started to look for reviews as my friend thought it was odd that I have been waiting so long for my credit card ppi claim from Belmont Thornton She said I shoud look into as they could be sitting on the money for interest! so you can imagine my thinking now after reading these reviews. I did ask a while ago if I could leave them and do this myself and they said I was free to go, however I didnt and just a couple of months ago a guy said he had been in touch with the Onbusdman and good news is that its with the ijudicator so its at a good stage but they have until Feb before they have to pay me anything as thats the deadline and there is a huge back log with the ombudsman. He assured me that as soon as its through Ill hear. Im fuming now cause Im skint and could really do with that money! So not sure what to do, should I call the ombudsman myself? Can I do that? And also can I just leave them, I guess if they have already got the money then Its my right to have that. I m hoping someone out there can advice me with the next steps, as all I know is if that money is sitting with them and they have lied and I can prove it they should not get any commission from me as they could have already earned that in interest!!!

I strongly reccommend ppl to think twice before using this company. Last year I myself used these people to claim back on a loan I had with welcome finance. Don't get me wrong they won the claim for me but held on to my money for months before sending it out to me. I only recieved the money once I got the ministry of Justice involved after finding out Belmont and Thornton had my money. They will send you letters threatening court action and keep ringing you hounding for their payment. How can a company threaten people with CCJ's when they have the money tucked away in their accounts? The financial offices are not customer facing so you cannot get any answers from them. They will tell you they have a huge back log of claims to sort thru before they can process any payment. The customer service team are also useless as they have no clue what so ever and will keep trying to fob you off each time you contact them. The complaints procedure they do not follow I sent off countless complaints and not once was there an apology of any sort in fact they will only acknowledge you of recievig the complaint but will not yet again do any thing about it.If you still wish to use this company then good luck you will need it.

I have been using this firm for PPI on 4 credit cards and 1 car finance and would strongly recommend never to get involved with this firm.
They may well get you money back but as soon as they do they will hound you for payment even before you have received payment from them or the company you are claiming from.
If you get money back from a credit card company and have an outstanding balance then the compensation you receive will come off your outstanding balance and you will then have to pay belmont thornton 25% immediately.(they dont tell you this)
I had this siuation and was told i could make 4 monthly payments which i did but during this time they called me several times a day for months demanding payment although they knew i was on a monthly plan. After i paid it off i was still being pursued for payment as they claimed they did not receive two of the monthly payments and threatened me with court and debt collectors.
I have been forced to send my bank statements to them to prove i have paid it in full.
As off 22/02/2011 the matter is still not resolved.
I would strongly advise to stay well clear of this incompetent company.

John im speaking from the 'inside' and i can assure you that if you have paid all your money and YOU have document proof of this thats all you need.You have told the fee chase team (thats what they are called) that you have paid it off there should be notes on the system saying that you have paid it off however my ex employers have a tendecy to heavily rely on technology and when it goes wrong IT GOES BADLY wrong.My advice to you is this do not contact belmont thornton ever again,if they contact you tell them that you have paid this all off and if you get 1 more call you will be sending a complaint to the Office of fair trading,The Ministry of justice and the Financial Ombudsman for harrasment.If they do call you ask to speak to a JOE KNIGHT he is the call center manager if not then ask for CHANTELLE DIEDRICKS she is joes boss and tell them you are going to make a complaint for harasment.
